A cheaper and better alternative to spending £10bn on the Lower Thames Crossing. Longer lasting results than that predicted for the Dartford Crossing. @transportaction.bsky.social

"How should transport make people feel?" Answers in one of the photos below from yesterday's workshop in #Brighton on the DfT's new Integrated Transport Strategy. "Safe" features prominently. Very important as we know! 🚴‍♀️🧑‍🦽🚶‍♀️🚚🚜 Have you been to a DfT workshop yet, and how was it?

Today sees the release of the Children’s Walking and Cycling Index report - the first of it’s kind - sponsored by Halfords Children are often overlooked by decision-makers and officers in transport, or if they are considered, it's on the school journey.

This is a nice day out...

Will you stand with us? For 147 years, we’ve fought for cyclists’ rights—but challenges remain. Too many still face barriers to safe, accessible cycling. 💛 Help us keep fighting for: 🚲 Safer streets 🗣 Stronger rights ⚖ Support for cyclists in need Donate today: www.cyclinguk.org/make-a-diffe...

Well done that MP! She's calling for action on drivers obscuring their registration plates! Mud and 'flipping' kits are also used. Widespread avoidance of identification. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It never was a good solution for cycling, as the uphill and narrow A259 road into Seaford, is always dangerous. The alternative NCN2 from @sustrans.bsky.social across muddy fields is not practical in winter. bournefreelive.co.uk/exceat-bridg...

Great to see the priorities at the new "Dutch-style" Westgate roundabout in #Chichester. @westsussex.bsky.social

“We need to move beyond talking about play areas and towards talking about playful neighbourhoods. The best playgrounds are completely wasted if children can’t safely get to them”. Thank you @timrgill.bsky.social

Transport for the South East continue to visit local libraries to promote their Transport Strategy revision. If you fill in the survey, don't support things you don't support! transportforthesoutheast.org.uk/our-vision/t... Can't see them on Bluesky.

#KidicalMass in #Hastings tomorrow, 10am. "A family friendly mass bike ride". Hoping the weather co-operates! Hastings Urban Bikes website: hastingsurbanbikes.org

Last chance to respond to the Government's consultation on a 10 year Integrated National Transport Strategy. The survey closes today, 20th February 2025! www.cyclinguk.org/blog/have-yo...

#Severance is caused by big road upgrades without concern for #ActiveTravel! @cyclinguk.bsky.social This is not being sorted out after YEARS of complaints. A27 #Sompting Church Lane. @nationalhighways.bsky.social @transportaction.bsky.social @lowtrafficfuture.bsky.social @westsussex.bsky.social

(1 of 3) We are proud to support South East Climate Alliance (SECA) and Hampshire Climate Action Network's letter to Angela Rayner calling for statutory climate and nature duties on all Mayoral Authorities: https://buff.ly/4jU7xgS Let's empower Mayors to take more climate action...

I'm currently reading this after hearing about it on @podstreetsahead.bsky.social As a designer it's giving me some insight into rider behaviour insofar as it's people in precarious (self) employment who are racing the clock to earn. We just don't hear about this stuff elsewhere.

"Growth" needs scrutiny. This podcast looks interesting.

It's @activetravelcaf.bsky.social's #ActiveTravel Café this evening at 5pm, the heartwarming weekly meet up for #ActiveTravel advocates! The session always has a round up of UK active travel news, then the guest speaker(s). See: www.activetravelcafe.org.uk

Deadline 20th Feb for Integrated Transport Strategy! Respond now, its simple, just say what you want to see for #ActiveTravel! Thanks, @lowtrafficfuture.bsky.social for the countdown. There's also a guidance document on how to respond from @cyclinguk.bsky.social at www.cyclinguk.org/sites/defaul...

We've got them because of motor traffic and they're a compromise. Great article with lots of research.

The "cycle hub" cycle parking at #Hove train station adopts a new “Paxton Fob” security system TOMORROW 13th February at 7am! Take photo ID to get a free fob from the ticket office at Hove. #Brighton due to change on 27 Feb.

Plenty wrong here! #Brighton #Hollingbury #ActiveTravel "facilities". @brighton-hove.gov.uk

If adopted, this change in the law would mean that an unlicensed driver who never had a licence, who caused the death of another person would automatically be convicted of a criminal offence. www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/a...

Happy #Friday!

As the shape of #Devolution & Local Government reorganisation becomes clearer, the Police & Crime Commissioner (for #Sussex) expresses interest in becoming Mayor. The elected Mayor role includes PCC responsibilities i.e. oversight of police forces in the area. www.sussex-pcc.gov.uk/about/news/d...

Spotted on in a cafe window. You see a lot of these sorts of signs around, campaigning for slower traffic speeds where there are lots of people around.

The NHS really needs to become an active player in shaping the environment around it. I can hardly think of any more powerful body to champion the change we need.

Local elections aren't happening for some, but new Mayors are to be elected in Hampshire & Solent, Sussex & Brighton. Some councils to be merged. Important changes coming. #Devolution www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Today Transport for the South East are in #Brighton. If you complete the survey, be specific about what you want to see: investment in #ActiveTravel and public transport, not the long list of road schemes. TfSE is composed of councils in the south east and most have not done well on #cycling.

"I can't believe that the law is so lenient on people who haven't got a licence." Charges were dropped against the driver. Now there's an attempt to get the law changed. news.sky.com/story/bereav...
