Happy Sunday all! This week's poetry blog post is the cuddliest blog post you'll read today. You know, probably...I don't really know what other blogs you read. #poetry #kidlit #poetrycommunity shaunmjex.wordpress.com/2025/06/08/a...

Another awesome piece by a talented young creative. Check out Nathan's nail-biting story "Thoughts" featured by Little Thoughts Press

Just for fun, here's a little poem I wrote that appeared back in 2023 in the second volume of Parakeet Magazine. #poetry #poetrycommunity #kidlit

Brian's poems are brilliant on the page, but there's something even better about getting to listen to him perform them. They spring to life with his voice. The audiobook version of "Behind the Staff Room Door: The Very Best of @brianmosespoet.bsky.social " is a delight

Look...all I'm saying is that we've earned a bit of schadenfreude.

Publication day for the paperback edition of ‘On Poetry Street’. 52 poems that are springboards to children’s own writing. Thanks to everyone @scallywagpress.bsky.social Delighted with it. Looking forward to seeing the layouts for the new book later today.

After listening to Stockard Channing read "Ramona the Brave" I HAD to listen to Elaine Stritch read "The Best Halloween Ever." It's keeping me company as I work, and it's fun revisiting the Herdman children. Stritch is the perfect narrator for the book.

"A wren took roost within a cave where deep within a tiger lay. The tiger growled at her guest and grumbled as wren built its nest." -from The Tiger and the Wren by @doucette515.bsky.social in Little Thoughts Press Issue 9: Go Wild! artwork by Liz Woodward www.littlethoughtspress.com/issues

Why are grown-up men's galoshes so profoundly boring? As a middle-aged man, I should be able to wear rainboots with dinosaurs or ducks on them, darn it all. (sorry for the harsh language)

Can you guess what this old word means? 🤔 You have until June 20 to showcase your favourite words in poems, stories, or artwork for @littlethoughtspress.com's Stirring Words issue (details here: bit.ly/4d8I8xc). Help to inspire a new generation of word lovers!

Nicholas would be well suited to avoid this pickle enthusiast's presence...

Here are a few more misleading film titles: Naked Lunch (a total lack of either) Mean Streets (the streets themselves are fairly benign) Stranger Than Fiction (was in fact fiction) We Own the Night (they were, at best, renting) The Wolf of Wall Street (Canis lupus are not found in Manhattan)

From the Funny Files: "A Fishy List" from the book "A Festival for Frogs" poetry4kids.com/poems/a-fish... #childrenspoetry #funnypoetry #poetry4kids

Thanks to @thetoypress.bsky.social for the writing prompt! This week's #wordoftheweek is "capsule" Here's what I came up with :) #writingcommunity #wordprompt #poetryforkids #PoetryCommunity #poetryforchildren #kidlit

On our most recent trip to the library, I picked Robert Schechter ( @robertschechter.bsky.social )'s delightful "The Red Ear Blow Its Nose." It's full of delightful poems, and the illustrations are whimsical and charming. A great book to get kids excited about reading and writing poetry.

Claire is such a gifted writer and this piece perfectly encapsulates why. It's thoughtful, confident, and eloquent. None of which is easy when you're being so vulnerable.

Check out the new issue of Lit Kids Magazine! I'm so inspired by the things these kids are creating. Give it a look and share it with someone :)

So....Judy Moody and Ramona Quimby would totally be friends, right?

Something I should have mentioned about this yesterday. I LOVE the fact that the brilliant Stockard Channing is the performer for the audio book.

As a personal sort of amusement, I find myself compiling a document of public domain poems written about insects. There's a wonderful variety of offerings out there.

Check out the incredible artwork of future illustrator Emery L over at Little Thoughts Press! One of my favorite parts of working in #kidlit is the opportunity to see the work of young creatives.

We got to do a little foraging while out for a walk. We ended up with a fair number of blackberries and mulberries. We even got to surprise our oldest with fresh berries when he got off work this evening!

Daily poetry prompt: Never... I've never had a selfie with a snail. I’ve never pulled a tiger by his tail. I’ve never had a fry-up on a Friday. I’ve never found a bobcat on a bobsleigh. More here: brian-moses.blogspot.com/2020/06/neve...

A new series on my blog - The Stories Behind the Poems- part one. Top children’s poets reveal what prompted particular poems. brian-moses.blogspot.com @jamescarterpoet.bsky.social @carolebromley.bsky.social @joshuaseigal.bsky.social @barbarableiman.bsky.social

It's no longer Sunday. But the poetry blog is still crawling with bugs.

All these decades later, and I still love to spend time with Ramona, Beezus, Henry Huggins, and the rest of the gang down on Klickitat Street.

My blog about poetry for children gets an average of 100 visits each day, with an all time figure of over 700,000. Do check the blog for examples of how to get children writing in the classroom and for poems by top children’s poets. Reposts appreciated. brian-moses.blogspot.com

We saw our first fireflies of the season out behind our apartment this evening. So magical.

Saw this while walking about this evening. Not sure if I like the common name "dog vomit slime" or "scrambled egg slime" better, but they're both good names for Fuligo septica.

This is a super charming collection of poems about one of my very favorite subjects: bugs! Carol Murray's poems are wonderful and Melissa Sweet's illustrations are lovely.

I loved being a mentor for this issue of @litkidsmagazine.bsky.social AND I am very proud of my daughter who submitted some of her photography. You can check out her work, and the work of a bunch of other talented writers, photographers, and artists here: litkidsmagazine.wixsite.com/lit-kids-mag...

It's official! Issue 6: Earth is out in the world! 🌎 Congratulations to all the young creatives featured in this Issue. Please share their work far and wide to help them celebrate! And subscribe to our website for future updates. Keep shining! ✨ litkidsmagazine.wixsite.com/lit-kids-mag... #kidlit

Daily poetry prompt. Things that are known... A sunbeam knows how to light up a room. A vampire knows how to rise from a tomb. A broken heart knows how to ache. Brittle bones know how to break. More here: brian-moses.blogspot.com/2025/01/thin...

I don't anticipate him being a long term resident, but I'd like to introduce you all to Toby. He's a common field cricket. My daughter and I found him outside, and decided that he'd spend the afternoon with us in my little bug house.

Look at my little honey bee friend exploring this lovely primrose!

Happy Sunday everyone! I don't mean to alarm you, but this week's poetry blog post is absolutely crawling with bugs... shaunmjex.wordpress.com/2025/06/01/b...

On the last day of May, I am coming to you with a very important message: a.co/d/aYD8K0Z
