Nosferatu 2024 This was one of the few films I had high anticipation for seeing. visually stunning and Depp treats us with an intense performance yet the film is as lifeless as it's title character. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror #vampires

Little Bites 2024 A moody yet tonally inconsistent film with little explanation of how the mother ended up in this addictive relationship. There are some good themes to explore but the actors are given little to work with. Fox as the mother is outstanding. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror

Inside Out 2 2024 Led by stellar voice acting from Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Phyllis Smith, et al, Inside Out 2 is an enjoyable sequel that doesn't have the emotional heft of its predecessor. Certainly one of the better Pixar films of the past few years. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #animation

The Substance 2024 I found it too detached to get invested in the characters. And the length is far too long. Despite that, I was enjoying my sojourn into this gonzo world until the ending. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror

Flow 2024 A very simple film that captures deep themes with elegance and innovation. I was fortunate to view his previous film a few years ago and this film did not let me down. It's a film about found family. No words but full of messages. Highly recommended 9/10 #movies #cardboardandkino

The Queen of Black Magic 1981 A very cheesy film but in a good way. It gets dull between kills but the deadly scenes elevate the film to enjoyable. Excellent practical effects. If you enjoy wacky films, check it out. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror

The Long Walk 2022, I'm not sure I've ever viewed a film from Laos before. The story is bleak and hits the viewer emotionally. It is a slowly paced film but I was never bored. Very intelligent, elegant, and simple. 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy #laos

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim PG-13, Released Dec 13, 2024, 2h 10m, Fantasy/Adventure/Action/Anime Director: Kenji Kamiyama Helm Hammerhand, King of Rohan, accidentally kills a Dunlending's father and the son seeks vengeance. Good thing Helm has a fierce daughter. (cont.)

The Echo R, 2008, 1h 30m, Mystery & Thriller/Horror Director: Yam Laranas After serving time for his crime, Reynolds (Jesse Bradford) moves to his deceased mother's apartment. Bloody piano keys indicate not all is well. (cont.) #movies #cardboardandkino #horror #thriller #hauntedhouse #ghosts

Maggie PG-13, Released May 8, 2015, 1h 34m, Horror/Mystery & Thriller/Drama/Sci-Fi Director: Henry Hobson (debut and only film to date) A father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter (Abigail Breslin) deal with accepting the consequences of her being bitten by a zombie. 1/2

The Final Girls 2015 This is a hidden gem. It takes slasher tropes and adds the emotional weight of loss of a loved one. It's witty, more comedy than horror, and very thoughtful. Recommended 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror #comedy

Girl with No Mouth 2019 a heartwarming tale with a generic villain and a gun toting granny to spice things up. I do wish it had gotten darker and explored how the lives of the children were impacted. Quirky and sincere enough to make it worthy of a view. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #adventure

The Wild Robot 2024 There have been many tales of an emotionless being learning how to have feelings. This one takes that theme and handles it well. It's a soulful film and the animation is stunning, full of vibrancy. Highly recommended 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #adventure #animation

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny 2023 Overly long, full of uninteresting characters, and featuring chase scenes that seem endless, Mangold fails to navigate Jones in his final adventure. I think Indy should've never grown up. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #adventure #action

Under the Skin 2014 Another film I was looking forward to seeing that fell flat. It's more interesting than stimulating. The film is remarkably vague as to the purpose of Johansson's character. At least they had erections for the aroused nude men. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #scifi

Primer 2004 heard many say this is the best time travel movie ever. I found it boring. It features obfuscation instead of mystery. The viewer is left attempting to fill in the gaps instead of being provided with intriguing clues. 4/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #scifi

Brotherhood 2019 Powerful film given a serious undertone by the fact it's based on a true story. I'm not sure alternating between the tragedy and the camp scenes works but I love the themes addressed. 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #drama #basedonatruestory

Invaders From Mars 1953 a young boy has to convince his town that aliens are replacing humans. A sincere but unintentionally hilarious film. It's campy and they use such things as balloons for the alien tunnels. B movie at it's best. 5/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #scifi

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb 2014 Some enjoyable moments in this average bit of family fair. Viewed it mainly because it's the last appearance of Robin Williams. which adds accidental poignancy to the tale and there is one cameo that made me laugh. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy

Wicked 2024 Gorgeous costumes, sumptuous sets two parts not needed miscasting Galinda's best moment is "Popular." Yet that scene is decidedly unfunny. This film about magic just isn't. did still find the dance scene moving. 5/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy #musical #adventure

The Kid Who Would Be King 2019 the film features convictions, innocence, and perhaps can be sentimental but, who cares? Sometimes we need sentimentality. For parents looking for a good modern film for kids, here it is! 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy #action #adventure

The Prince’s Voyage 2019 A thoughtful tale told thru meaningful dialogue and a delicate visual style featuring muted but beautiful colors. A film for adults. We need more of these. 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #animation

Burn the Witch (Japanese) 2020 Aesthetically rich animation cannot hide the fact we have stereotypical characters and too many themes for such a short film. I do love the original designs for the dragons. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy #comedy #adventure #thriller #basedonabook

The House With a Clock in Its Walls 2018 I found the work for the most part to be uninspired. Loved the pumpkins and the griffin. I found the doll room to be spooky as heck. But the film itself isn't magical. I think kids would enjoy it, however. 5/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #fantasy #comedy

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore 2022 it's amusing to think the screenwriters admitted they couldn't develop a cohesive plot so they have the characters state they have no plan. The film almost captures the magic it portrays. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #harrypotter #fantasticbeasts

Jurassic World Dominion 2022 I did find this to be the most enjoyable of the World trilogy. A big part was seeing our OG JP heroes. I thought the film moved at a good clip and barely perceived the runtime. It's a shut off your brain type movie. 6/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #scifi #action

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 2023 The DCEU comes to an end like the dry husk of a dead fish found on the beach. There are some redeeming moments. Wilson is enjoyable. Loved the brine king and I'm not sure how I can live without a T.O.P.O of my own. 4/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #dccomics

Armageddon Tales 2021 Sadly, a mostly poor effort at an anthology. the producer should've made sure all the directors had information on the others ideas. Instead, it's a mess. Not recommended. Except the creature in the first tale. 4/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #scifi #action #apocalypse

Backcountry 2014 I didn't care about either of these characters. The story itself is facile. Eric Balfour enters briefly as a smug arrogant poop with far more personality than the leads. The bear is huge! And he is a beauty! Not recommended 4/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #adventure #thriller

Polaris 2022 We enter the world of Sumi, a young girl who slides along the snow with her her maternal figure bear. Like the iciness that surrounds them, most of the populace is unforgiving. The type of film I love to discover. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #adventure #action #fantasy #thriller

American Dreamer 2024 It's a joy to see Dinklage and MacLaine bounce lines off each other. The humor is droll and the story would be absurd except it's based on a true story. If you enjoy curmudgeons, this film is for you. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #basedonatruestory #drama #comedy

Handling the Undead 2024 this is about the emptiness we feel while grieving. I think many went into this film expecting zombie horror but the horror of losing someone involves reality, not fiction, and is thus far scarier. Poignant 8/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror #thriller

Sting 2024 Enjoyable little creature feature. This film isn't one of the scariest but I think there are enough riveting moments to satisfy the viewer. There's also emotional elements of family conflict and bonding that invest us into the narrative. 7/10 #movies #cardboardandkino #horror #thriller
