Controversial opinion:while adapting a book or play that has enough material, making it into two parts isn't a cash grab; it's giving your story breathing room. Dune did this very well, IMO. What they added/changed fit very well with the themes of the book. I think Wicked deserves the extra time.

I've lost both of my grandmothers recently. After one of them died, my uncle(a DNP) lamented that he hadn't caught S/S of her metastatic cancer earlier. Evwntually, a thought came to his mind that his mom suffered so much less in the long run with a devastating diagnosis, and that it was a mercy.
