This is #raval BCN…

Whether we agree or not, pretty relevant quote from Jensen Huang at CES2025

THE BELL JAR HARD ❌ It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York EASY ✅ That summer was sizzling, and so were the Rosenbergs

So much depth in a sentence

Impressive! You need to be an expert to actually differentiate from human vs ai generated poetry. Not only that, the perception of quality for ai generated content is in general better than for human written poetry.

Since I've been here for a while… here are some useful features on Bluesky that you might not have discovered yet! 🧵

✨ Do current neural speech models show human-like linguistic biases in speech perception? We took inspiration from classic phonetic categorization experiments to explore where sensitivity to phonotactic context emerges in Wav2Vec2 models 🔍 (w/ @wzuidema.bsky.social) 📑 arxiv.org/abs/2407.03005 ⬇️

Excited to announce that I'll be starting a lab at the University of Montreal (psychology) and Mila (Montreal Institute of Learning Algorithms) starting summer 2025. More info to come soon, but I'll be recruiting at the Masters and PhD levels. Please share / get in touch if you're interested!

Controlling for error and biases in LLM in an easy way? I'm all for it

This is a super interesting plot. ML conventional wisdom is the bias-variance trade-off. Here is a neural net with a single hidden layer. At first, bias decreases and variance increases. As you train for longer, you get a phase transition and then *both* decrease.

I've been on twitter since april 2023. I'm not feeling yet ready to leave it completely, but I think I'm ready to start sharing again my thoughts in a healthier community.
