Phew. Came through but goodness that was tight. #ENGvSCO #6Nations #GuinessM6N

Thanks to @tesmagazine.bsky.social for covering our reflections and concerns.

Key thoughts from Heads Roundtable on Ofsted consultation, the potential impact on recruitment & retention and the RISE teams. There is an alignment of concerned voices.

We risk missing “a golden opportunity to deliver fully inclusive schools through policy and practice” - important messages from co-chair @keziah70.bsky.social.

I cannot tell you how much happier this has made me!!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇫🇷🏉

Ah that all too familiar ‘feeling optimistic at half time’ moment!! 😬😬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇫🇷

Current mood.

Today Heads Roundtable met to try and make sense of the last week. We will release thoughts soon but emerging thoughts: there’s a lot of change being proposed, we will focus on how it all lands for all children and our staff - not on politics or position. We are #HeadsRoundtable

Heads Roundtable send our sympathies and support to all those affected by the incident in Sheffield. We particularly think of the families, leaders & teachers navigating the unimaginable. Our hearts are with you & hope you receive all the support you need both now and for the foreseeable future.

Excellent words from @carolinebarlow.bsky.social on the need for change in our accountability system. Inclusion, curric breadth and wellbeing were not built into the current system. So a change here absolutely is the lever needed for inclusion, equity and care. schoolsweek.co.uk/how-labour-c...

Right then. This is the REAL test. Who’s here for Edu6Nations on this platform? #6Nations #IREvENG 🏉 🇮🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 OH spent last night behind the sofa. Today has to be better right?

“It’s no secret that the reductive use of restricted data sets like EBacc and Progress 8 has been driving decisions that undermine not just inclusion” @carolinebarlow.bsky.social schoolsweek.co.uk/how-labour-c...

Two great pieces in @schoolsweek.bsky.social from our team this week. A call to take the opportunity for accountability reform from co-chair @carolinebarlow.bsky.social and a fabulous review from @moremorrow.bsky.social of the new book by @leoracruddas.bsky.social

Only just home-cooked a Chinese banquet from scratch tonight. It was edible. Feeling unjustifiably proud of myself! #chinesenewyear

With the @ofstednews.bsky.social consultation likely to be out this week, I’m hoping that: 1. There is more than one model for consultation - just putting one out would be a done deal and not real consultation. Minsters must not be railroaded into accepting one model if it isn’t right.

'While there have been undeniable advancements in curriculum development and pedagogy, the analytical tools employed to examine and enhance the schools system remain limited and, arguably, imprecise…' @andrewoneill.bsky.social makes the case for a data revolution in education

So proud to be part of this group. Thank you to @keziah70.bsky.social and @carolinebarlow.bsky.social for putting our thoughts on paper.

A strong defence of the edu sec & the schools bill, by a group of headteachers including @keziah70.bsky.social and @carolinebarlow.bsky.social. Certain individuals with "amplified" voices have publicly criticised the bill & Bridget Phillipson - but "do not speak for the vast majority", they say.

Very well said! @keziah70.bsky.social @carolinebarlow.bsky.social

An open letter to The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State for Education from The Headteachers Roundtable. headteachersroundtable.wordpress.com/2025/01/23/a...

For those vast majority of ethical, inclusive headteachers, please see our open letter to the Secretary of State for Education.

Very relevant and timely letter in The Times today from @headsroundtable.bsky.social that all ‘moderate and ethical school leaders’ will agree with. @keziah70.bsky.social @carolinebarlow.bsky.social 👏🏻

We have written to the SoS Education in support of the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. We have summarised it here in a letter to The Times and the included in an article.

Great letter from @keziah70.bsky.social and @carolinebarlow.bsky.social. Proud to be a member of the Headteachers’ Roundtable.

This is good and reflects thoughtful discussions on the topic. When crafting the #DigitalStandards with the DfE working party we often spoke about a need for training & pedagogy alongside the tech. Plus support on the best bets for their context alongside support through planning & purchasing.

Delighted today to be able to share evidence with the All Party Parliamentary Group on Men and Boys' Issues, addressing work we have done with impact on closing the attainment and engagement gender gap in schools. Good to catch up with other school leaders and meet researchers in the field.

Fantastic article from @calmleadership.bsky.social - one to read and then re-read.

This is a cracking piece by @keziah70.bsky.social

So @keziah70.bsky.social is on 🔥 here. There is more than one way to get to where we need to and collaboration HAS to be at the heart of it all.

Thoughtful piece from our co-chair @keziah70.bsky.social in @schoolsweek.bsky.social on the value of time spent in #AP “in mainstream education, there’s a lot to learn from AP about how to adapt”. Building on a sector wide perspective and collaborative approaches to young people’s needs.

With a level playing field there is a chance our limited resources can be used to much greater effect if we focus on what we need and want for all young people instead of each other.

Exactly this. There is more than one way to structure partnerships and more than one way to collaborate - we need to focus on pouring our energies into supporting young people more than debating structures, working creatively together, with the best available partners.

First of the series. Full appreciation for CAR, @beckyfrancis.bsky.social and team, the balancing act is tough.

This will be interesting… 🤔

I knew I was going to love this book - a few pages in and I'm hooked. 'Remember the passion and vision that inspired you to work in education in the first place and hold on to that tightly: that's your punk' @keziah70.bsky.social @womened.bsky.social #punkleadership #values #makeadifference

Oh my goodness, the Aussie relatives are on their way….. it’s starting! 🎄🥂🎄🥂

Merry Christmas!

Last day of term for many. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, a restful break and a happy New Year Year. 🎄🎄

“The solutions are out there, they lie in the system collaborating and commissioning with the highest level of support” - brilliant from our vice-chair Sabrina Hobbs schoolsweek.co.uk/the-year-we-...

Very much enjoyed being in the room today with the @cfyounglives.bsky.social talking about supporting the improvement of inclusion in mainstream settings. Thank you for the opportunity to hear and learn from so many walking the walk in different parts of our sector. #inclusion
