Just catching up on Luxon's Q+A interview (yikes) and something that I noted was he kept saying that rents have stopped rising under this government. That isn't true. Not only are rents rising fast relative to past years, they're now rising faster than wages

Almost didn't go due to the no bikes on buses making it more logistically difficult to get to the start line. But Happy 30th Birthday Cycle Wellington. Absolutely loved riding in a group from Island Bay to the waterfront especially with Mr12 confidently riding his own bike.

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." @CycleWgtn celebrates 30 years of successful advocacy for a better city.

After many years of advocacy and shennanigans, the Island Bay Cycleway is ... OPEN! @cyclewgtn.bsky.social

Trying to find a happy medium between not knowing anything that's happening in the world and being pissed off all the time

In Wellington’s morning peak, buses are only 3% of the vehicles on Thorndon Quay but carry 60% of the people. On Adelaide Road buses are 1% of the traffic, but 40% of the people. Want more people in the city without more congestion? Fund more bus lanes, and higher capacity, higher frequency buses.

Shot. Chaser.

The Seattle Aquarium’s new facility, which has its grand opening today, contains a feature I’ve never seen at any aquarium anywhere in the world- and I’ve been to a lot. There’s a window to see into the big tank from outside the building. You don’t need to buy a ticket to view it. 🤯

Couldn't make this up if you tried. Beam, "making cities flow better" by parking on the footpath.

STUDY: ‘Dual-mode households’ (cars & ebikes) can reduce their car use by 19% compared to those solely reliant on cars, particularly affecting shorter trips. This supports households moving to one car and adopting a ‘car light’ lifestyle. Via @MomentumMag momentummag.com/study-shows-...

My student loan balance is $0 as of today! Wheeeee. My hot water cylinder pipes decided to celebrate by causing a $600 call out at 7am.

New Zealand: Wellington Hospital opens first Covid-19 ward in 3 years, warns of spike in respiratory bugs. "This is the first time the hospital has had a dedicated Covid-19 clinical area since 2021, Hospital and specialist services group director operations Jamie Duncan said."

Me: oh maybe I can actually afford to seek an adult ND diagnosis now. List of places that do assessments: our waitlists are closed through 2025. Oh, nevermind then.

@thewaroncars.bsky.social sticker in the wild. Wellington, NZ.

Seems like the right place to post the music videos requested by my 7yo this weekend.

"76 percent of National voters, 75 percent of ACT voters, and 92 percent of New Zealand First voters were in favour of keeping free prescriptions."

WCC has the opportunity to do the funniest thing. Close Dixon st to cars completely. Paint the whole street 🌈

Question: Who would you rather read a story to your children? My #cartoon today #RainbowCrossings. With an inept attempt at alt text with prompting from @meshedlight.bsky.social

Killed my first rat! Heard, then saw them sneaking around last week, and got them with the old trap tonight. #fixnfogg #predatorfree

This particular amendment made me laugh. It already has a 10 storey apartment building?!

Went for a 34km bike ride with the boy and both kids around Wellington today. 11yo rode most of it himself too. Amazing fun. Can we ban cars from the bays every weekend?

These 2 stories side by side are comedy gold. "Victory" against more residents living in the neighbourhood, but their local pool is having to be shut in part because it is the least used and need more ratepayers. 🤔 #wellingtonIHP

I wonder what percentage of garages in Wellington are actually used for people to park their everyday vehicles. I'd love to see/do a photo essay #kikorangi

Drivers will just take over any available space. Way to ruin what should be a safe area for kids.

New friends 7 months after a dog viciously killed our last herd.

Hey where's our pseudoephedrine as promised

Either @rebeccamatthews.bsky.social is a more powerful water pipe leak tsar than anyone realised or water infrastructure woes aren't a result of Wellington City Council cycleways but rather a symptom of systemic issues with three waters infrastructure nationally 🤷‍♀️ www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

I stopped at a liquor shop on the way home and bought some ready made mojitos. I got ID'd 🤣. I was born in the 80s. Maybe it was the multicolored shorts, helmet, plaits, RTD combo?
