It’s still 1888 in my WIP, still in the south of France, but I’m here 2025 in North Carolina telling the story of a woman whose fascination with Vincent Van Gogh opens her heart to love her husband before he dies.

The joy of social media: Nigar Alam followed me, so I looked at her profile, then immediately bought her debut novel, UNDER THE TAMARIND TREE--a story about India's Partition, a period of great interest to me, and one I may not have found without the help of BlueSky. @nigaralamwrites.bsky.social

After five years of hiatus with personal health scares, family medical trauma and losses, I opened my WIP--a novel set in belle epoch France--and found it's holding up. #WednesdayWins

I returned from NY with one word.

I have never considered myself a poet, but I have a continue to write poetry. I would love to hear your impressions on this little poem. I produced into a video.

A quick poem for this new year.

So this FINALLY happened. I guess I need to change my start word now.

Choose 10 books that have made you laugh, cry, cringe, or blush. Think of the books you hid behind fake covers, the ones you'd never suggest to your book club, the ones that don't appear on literary reading lists. 1 book per day for 10 days. #booksky

@pennyhaw.bsky.social Thanks for following me! I loved THE INVINCIBLE MISS CUST and am looking forward to reading more of your books. We will never run out of stories about smart women never hearlded.

Just want to remind people that not all disabilities are visual. Thank you @lillielainoff.bsky.social for this amazing graphic. Lillie Lainoff is author of a gender-bending retelling of The Three Musketeers featuring a character with an invisibile disability that threatens her ability to succeed.

I feel ripped-off by the Weather Channel. It promised snow in the wee hours of morning. I rose from bed giddy in hope for a dusting to glimmer in the day. Not a single flake in sight. Can I report the Weather Channel as a scammer?

The nexus between two holidays. Every year I bring out my mother’s Christmas china the day after Thanksgiving. The first meal I serve is what I call Thanksgiving Benedict—leftover stuffing layered with turkey, eggs & drizzled with turkey gravy. This, to me, is as good as the feast the day before.

On a gray day in the fall just remember the pup on the beach in the summer and your heart will smile.

From my heart to yours--a short story about broken families, traditions, luck and magic--all told from the eyes of a young girl helping her grandmother make Thanksgiving turkey. carolynburnsbass.com/cook-a-turkey #Thanksgiving

You’ll find face jugs in many pottery studios throughout the American South, while these are just a sample from the studio of Crystal King, a well-known potter from Seagrove, NC. The Seagrove area is renowned as a hub for artists, particularly potters.

Gotta have my coffee first thing, but then who wouldn’t want to grab one of these yummy delights from The Table in Asheboro, NC.

My AI parody of Trump's cabinet picks. Clowns one and all, led by a master ringleader parading as a patriot. As we enter the next phase of American government, let's remember the words of our first president, “Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.”― George Washington

I’m not sure how the algorithm here at Bluesky works, but I will always like photos of owls, foxes, wolves, and writers writing.

You think you know the answers to these things as a parent, but I suspect you would be wrong. Which of these questions would you ask your child over Thanksgiving this year?

Dusk… Twilight… Sunset… That time of day when light fades, temperatures fall, and the yawn of day closes into a Mona Lisa smile. I love the old fashioned term, “gloaming” to describe the waning of light and the fall of the day. What is your favorite time of day? #foryou #sunset #fall #poetryinlight

Anyone else want to pronounce Bluesky as if the Y is a I? Like, I want a brewski with my Bluesky?

I’m on an Elizabeth Strout binge. I read her first 2 books early on, loving her voice, her characters and their inner lives. Just finished book 2 of the Amgash series and now have back-to-back books to enjoy over the fall evenings. What authors have you binged after discovering them?

Who wouldn’t eat that beef burrito draped in mole and Oaxaca cheese and drizzled with sour cream? Well, maybe vegans, gluten-free, lactose intolerant, keto… you’d find something else to satisfy at Monterrey Grill in Durham, NC.

I caught a leaf mid-fall.

Play with sound up! I caught this mockingbird singing its little heart out. There were no other birds nearby, and yet it continued to sing nonstop. I want to be like a mockingbird and change up my song until someone listens.

Hello Bluesky! I’m a foodie, traveler and author of truths and fictions. Some may remember me as founder of #LitChat over at that old place. I’m here to support those who create art in diverse forms. I’ll post about my dog Scooter, my grandkids, nature, food & making the world a safe place for all.
