I am so over governments failing to meet the needs of the people and then blaming immigrants for it. Time for a robust, liberal challenge to Starmer’s horrible speech. He has diminished our nation.

Starmer is so on the wrong side on immigration. The world is smaller, people travel across the world and fall in love with people from other countries. We should be making it easier for peoole to be with their partners.

Keir Starmer is compromising our universities, putting social care (and ultimately the recovery of the NHS) at risk, when he could actually have made a positive case for migration and invested in public services to make sure that they were fit for purpose. Sickening to hear him pander to the right.

And in terms of international students, are they not vital to the finances of many universities? And why would they bother coming here if we don’t offer post grad opportunities?

If your relative needs care, surely the most important thing is that their carer is good at and wants to do the job. It takes a particular vocation to do it well. Where are the people in this country who are going to take these jobs? The social care sector is already on its knees.

I am feeling sick listening to Starmer. He says he is not pandering to Reform but he is doing exactly that. If he is worried about downward pressure on wages, then he could enforce minimum wage legislation better not totally ruin our social care system.

Don’t often watch Newsnight on a Friday but am particularly enjoying Diane Abbott’s critique of Peter Mandelson. “Unctuous self congratulation” was where my head was at during his interview.

In which the party President shows he knows more about football than I do.

Sadly I think this is necessary. It is possible to deal with the consequences of the Supreme Court judgement without resorting to such cruelty and disrespect to trans people. We need peoole in these positions who will look at this with wisdom, understanding and compassion.

In the garden with this excellent book about fandom, sisterhood and empowerment. I barely know who Harry Styles is but I can only feel positive about someone who inspires such joy and encourages his fans to live their best lives. @keris.bsky.social is such an emotionally intelligent writer.

Reading @keris.bsky.social’s new book, The Harry Styles Effect but dogs and delivery people are giving me no peace. However even when she told me to Google something I did and went straight back to the book without being distracted. Wasn’t expecting to do actual Maths though.

Well said @cajardinemp.bsky.social www.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

Good to hear both @cajardinemp.bsky.social and @jamiegreeneuk.bsky.social emphasise the human consequences of the Supreme Court judgement in the basics of how trans people live their lives.

As a survivor of multiple sexual assaults I actually couldn't be more disgusted by Bridget Phillipson's statement. Using the traumatic experiences of people like me to defend denying people also like me access to treatment, support and services is utterly vile and despicable.

If anyone needs a cheery Springtime thought, my friend posted a photo of some bluebells and I remembered that the Gaelic word for them translates as “cuckoo’s shoes.” Just gorgeous.

When I posted the same pro trans solidarity message I posted on here on Musk’s hellsite I got a message telling me that it contained slurs. So much for freedom of speech.

I am sad that I am going to be hundreds of miles away from any of the pro trans pro equality marches today. I will be with you in spirit though. As a cos woman and a feminist I will always stand up against any erosion of rights for marginalised groups.

Worth reading to understand how the Supreme Court judgement hurts both cis and trans women

A powerful post which shows the impact of this week not just on trans people but on anyone who doesn’t conform to people’s expectations of gender. I had to wait till I stopped crying to post it.

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a... Person who drafted the Equality Act indicates the Supreme Court has taken quite the liberty in its ruling.

All a Male British Transport Police Officer who wants to sexually assault *any* woman with impunity now has to do is: 1) Find a pretext for a strip search. 2)Claim they thought she was trans. JK Rowling thinks this is a win for women.

I am increasingly disappointed that the concerns of the #LGBTQ+ community over what the Supreme Court judgement means for them are not yet being addressed. I have written to the Government asking them to make clear how trans and non binary rights will be protected.

This breaks my heart. It is about as far from treating trans people with dignity and respect as you can get. That is not ok. news.sky.com/story/trans-...

I know my Trans & Non Binary friends will be worried, scared & confused today The courts judgement needs careful consideration to understand its impact. Trans voices were not included yet this ruling affects them most. That’s deeply troubling. Please know you are loved & accepted as you are 🏳️‍⚧️💛

1/5 At Engender it will take us time to fully assess the implications of the lengthy and complex judgment released today by the Supreme Court. We will share further reflections in due course.

We are studying today's judgement by the UK Supreme Court. Nothing they rule will change our solidarity with the trans+ community and with everyone who seeks to live their lives under control of their own bodies, and free from poverty, ignorance or conformity.

Along with @lgbtiscotland.bsky.social, we've published our reaction to the judgement in the UK Supreme Court today. There will be more we want to say to trans people directly once we have a chance to catch our breath. www.equality-network.org/uk-supreme-c...

As a great person once said: I am a Liberal and we are against this sort of thing. Sex is neither binary nor immutable. This is just a fact. A court ruling cannot change that fact. Legislation cannot change that fact. I am disgusted that a British court has ruled in ignorance to enforce conformity

Today is a tough day for all trans and non binary people and those who love them. The outcome of this judgement is that trans people’s lives become inherently more difficult and no woman, cis or trans, is any safer.

This is appalling. I really feel for @werahobhouse.bsky.social.

I know we have a very important recall of Parliament to get through first but today for me is all about Doctor Who! I love Ncuti in the role and I adore Russell’s writing so very excited about this new series.

I feel like this will be an essential part of my Gàidhlig learning journey! acairbooks.com/books/ailig-...
