Words I've never said before: "God has a plan." Usually when people say that it's because something really terribly is happening to them.

Agreed, I have read 4 novels this month but don't have the patience to watch a video longer than 30 seconds, honestly. Not when I'm in social scrolling mode, anyway.

I also listened to Echoes in High School! Echoes introduced me to so much amazing music. Plus I just love John Diliberto's voice. It was on late on my local station, 10 or 11 PM, a great way to chill before sleep. You reminded me that I can subscribe via the internet. Time to revive a ritual!

There's no need to insult animals, though. We could put a border collie in the White House and give it one of those mats with buttons so it could talk and we would be a lot better off than we are right now.

They've had 5 republics plus some emperors and kings since the Revolution!

The uprising in Les Mis illustrates how blind optimism without concrete planning got a bunch of students killed and failed to change anything. Hugo critiques the human suffering caused by political and religious institutions, but does not present revolution as a solution.

Love it, but the uprising depicted in Les Mis is not THE French Revolution. It's the June Rebellion of 1832, an attempt to end the Restoration of the monarchy after Napoleon. The June Rebellion failed (which is also covered in Les Mis).
