A hive of activity: Momentum is building in efforts to save the native 'Welsh dark' honeybee ✍️ Carwyn Graves

Cockles with salt and vinegar crisps to scoop. Name me a finer combo. You can't.

The wonderful purple tones of young Birch (Fedwen) giving a flush of colour to the otherwise dormant winter tones of the sessile Oak (Derwen). A wonderful area around the Dwyryd, on the flanks of #Eryri and its #celticrainforest habitats (Coedwigoedd Glaw Celtaidd Cymru).

I have found aurochs fascinating ever since I studied about them in undergrad archaeology courses. The last auroch died in Poland in 1627. I am following the 'de-extinction' Taurus breeding program in Europe with great interest. www.atlasobscura.com/articles/whe... #foodhistory #domestication

Love this work by Cegin y bobl, teaching kids how to cook healthy food from scratch for a community hub (and the FM). So much potential for good local food and cooking to bring more communities together.

Edrych ymlaen cael fy nannedd i hwn wrth @mateoy.bsky.social @calonbooks.bsky.social again setting the agenda with new writing about #Wales in English 👌

Almost half of Welsh residents don’t know how to cook Christmas dinner, with other staple meals also causing major problems for families, a new survey has revealed nation.cymru/news/almost-...

His chapter about orchards, Perllan, is as delicious as a glass of cider from the Gwent Levels. #Wales Read the rest of my review of "Tir: The Story of the Welsh Landscape @carwyngraves.bsky.social in The Niche @britishecolsoc.bsky.social #envhist #bookreview 📚

Carn Wen, Llanfairarybryn, shrouded in forestry until recent years, now its intervisibility with other cairns on high plateaus in the landscape lends credence to the idea that these monuments speak to each other as well as their wider viewsheds. #landscapearchaeologywales

Great article. All part of the bigger picture behind a really tasty movement here in Wales. Great work, @carwyngraves.bsky.social

The vast majority of Welsh rainforest habitat is in ‘unfavourable’ condition, with many sites suffering from multiple compounding threats, according to a landmark report that assesses the health of Wales' rare temperate rainforests

'Unwild Wales’ was my original, slightly provocative title to ‘#Tir'. It was a deliberate provocation – not just an allusion to Borrow’s 19th century jaunt through the country and bestseller on Wales, but also to current hot debates on #land use and #wildlife here... carwyngraves.com/unwild-wales...

More good reasons to support local cider producers....🍎

"Another benefit is the three crops: apples, wool and meat. “If you compare a holistic system of traditional orchards, then try to get the same from separated, specialised orchards and pasture, you would need significantly more land. (From the Twitter Archive #1) Deep in my valley is a tree so old it makes my bones ache. There are only a handful like it in the country, and its boughs harbour some of our oldest stories. Yet almost no-one has ever seen it. 🧵
