My first book of the year was Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova, and I thought it was wondrful. I’ve seen it described as ‘literary horror’ and ‘magic realism’. I loved its exploration of grief, acceptance (and lack thereof), difference, and love that changes over time.

2024 has been a mixed bag. The highlight was Ren and me moving into our new home together, and my 40th birthday trip to Brussels was fun too. But most of my year has been impacted by a host of new health problems (on top of existing ones) which have been really kicking my butt. Hope 2025 is better.
