Breaking via NY Times — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about forthcoming strikes in Yemen on March 15 in a private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer

i will remark again on this hallmark of maga politics, which is that trump embodies the organic will of the voters and this imbues him with sovereign power that cannot be checked or limited by any other institution in the society.

Van Hollen: And it's also important that people understand this case is not just about one man. It's about protecting the constitutional rights of everybody who resides in the United States of America.

Don't ever believe right wingers when they claim to be fighting for freedom of speech. What they are really fighting for is the right to be hateful bigots without facing any consequences.

Q: "How do you respond to Governor Newsom?" Sen. Van Hollen: "I think Americans are tired of elected officials or politicians who are all finger to the wind...Anybody who can't stand up for the Constitution and the right of due process doesn't deserve to lead."

the most cruel administration of all time. them being this outwardly evil genuinely might be their downfall in the end

Because rural is code for white, and they are considered “real,” “authentic,” Americans. As opposed to minority groups coded as “urban” who are implicitly considered “illegitimate.” Which is why in US politics you can criticize cities but cannot criticize rural areas.

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

Much of the IT and cybersecurity infrastructure underpinning the US health system is in danger of a possible collapse following a purge of IT staff and leadership at the Dept. of Health and Human Services, four current and former agency workers tell WIRED.

Van Hollen: I should also just say, I mentioned the fake margarita, they actually wanted to have the meeting by the side of the pool in the hotel. They want to create this appearance that life was just lovely for Kilmar. Which of course is a big, fat lie.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

yes! this dude will back down to anyone who tells him to fuck himself! this is the only response worth having!

El Salvador is a contractor providing the United States with a paid service. The idea that we couldn’t get anyone they’re holding back with the snap of a finger just by asking is so ludicrous on its face, it seems less like a real excuse and more like a test of how much shit the courts will eat.

Kinda hard to see a free and fair 2028 election where she doesn’t win by a lot.

Eugenicists are so stupid.

we are living in fascism right now

BREAKING: An immigration court determined our client Mahmoud Khalil to be removable from the U.S. based solely on his political speech. The fight isn't over — we'll keep fighting for Mahmoud's freedom and all of our First Amendment rights in federal court.

"The governments of the United States and El Salvador have subjected more than 200 Venezuelan nationals to enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention, Human Rights Watch said today."

Not for nothing, but how, exactly, is it legal to send people for *punishment* in a foreign prison (esp with no due process)? Were the funds being used for it appropriated for this purpose? I feel this has just become a thing no one questions

They are obviously slow learners

I think it's bad that the country is led by people who haven't had a real problem in their entire lives and couldn't get a regular job due to being too weird

The people who architected the financial and constitutional collapse of this country, for no reason than to torture immigrants on camera for likes and shares, should pay the penalty for their treason

Jeanine: We found out there are people who are between the ages of one and four who are getting social security Jessica: That's the benefit for kids whose parents are dead.

Illegal ideas.

there is no “epidemic,” he is almost certainly going to say it is vaccines and, well, stay safe everyone.

when rfk makes america healthy again, the children afflicted by sickle cell will just be sent to the labor camps…err…work farms where they can recover

I'm seeing grown-ass adults marvel at how high stocks jumped today - they must think their mom actually vanished when she played "peek-a-boo."

Biggest mistakes I'm seeing in early reporting (thread): 1. Tariffmageddon isn't over: Lotsa tariffs to account for, but the average tariff rate is only down around one quarter. So most of the pain of Liberation Day is still with us.

Excellent opinion piece about the nostalgic culture war of the tariffs plan, punitive and honestly not even about the post WW2 boom but almost pining for the pre-labor rights industrialism of the robber baron era. Nice one @rotimia.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

“McDonalds workers in Denmark make more than Honda workers in Alabama” is such a key point. It’s the institutions, stupid.

you, a rube: “i want my kid to grow up to be a doctor or an engineer or a teacher” lutnick, a genius: “to make america great again your child will make iphones that they will not be able to afford”

Trade deficit. I have bought food from say, Chilis. They have never bought food from me. There is a trade deficit with Chilis. I’m still doing fine. The trade deficit argument SOUNDS compelling, but it’s a straw man with no relevancy
