I’ve known too many “the Empire was right” Star Wars fans. (Not talking about cosplayers. You can cosplay a villain without espousing their beliefs. Talking about the dudes — and it’s always dudes — who want to genuinely argue the Empire’s merits, and whom I have been tired of since at least 1998)

A friend pointing out that my lived experience of my gender was not universal. This was part of a discussion in a pagan group about souls and reincarnation. I was in my late teens, and I’d been influenced, as many young pagans are, by some very gender essentialist viewpoints.
