Today, I hosted a seniors-focused town hall in Downers Grove. Throughout the meeting, we discussed the impacts of the Trump Administration and what I’m doing to stop Republican attempts to cut Social Security and Medicaid.

February is Black History Month. Today and every day, let’s celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of Black Americans and remember that Black history is American history.

Earlier this week, I participated in Lewis University’s Fostering Positive Mental Health in Aviation Program. I spoke about my pilot mental health work in Congress and appreciated the opportunity to hear from aviation students.

Over 70 cases have been filed against the Trump Administration’s executive orders or agency actions. Here’s what’s happening in the courts:

As the son and grandson of veterans, I hold in highest regard those who have put their lives on the line to defend our country. Today, I was honored to deliver valentines at the Hines VA Clinic. Thank you to everyone who crafted over 3,500 valentines to help my office show gratitude to veterans.

In addition to dropping the Valentines off at local community centers, my office would like to spread the thoughtful valentines we have received around by mailing them out to veterans. To send a valentine to a veteran, please fill out this form: forms.gle/L7vHJVpZPwV7...

Last week, I introduced a bill with @rephaleystevens.bsky.social to prevent Elon Musk from accessing US citizens' private data. All it takes now is for three House Republicans to be willing to stand up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk and for the American people.

ICYMI: Last week, I led 154 House Democrats in a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent expressing concern regarding Elon Musk and his allies’ access to the federal government’s payments system, and demanding answers about the extent of Musk’s access. casten.house.gov/media/press-...

Today I offered a motion to help ensure Elon Musk no longer has unlawful access to Federal Government systems and the private, sensitive data of taxpaying Americans. All but one House Republican voted No and defeated my motion, choosing cowardice over patriotism.

This week, my office has received more calls than ever from folks concerned about Elon Musk's access to their personal data. I've taken two steps to help put a stop to Musk's actions. (1/4)

🚨 NEWS: I led over 150 House Democrats in a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent demanding answers on Elon Musk's unprecedented access to US citizen's private data and Treasury payment systems.

🚨NEWS: Tomorrow at 12pm CT, I'm hosting a telephone town hall to discuss the first few weeks of the Trump Administration and Elon Musk's unprecedented access to US citizens' personal data and federal disbursement systems.

Fascism survives so long as the evil at the top is supported by cowards below. Is any Republican in Congress willing to stand against Elon Musk and for the American People? Or will they sit in cowardly complicity with the evil of their leaders?

Illinois imported over $18 billion in goods from Mexico in 2023, including $163 million in agricultural products that feed our communities. Trump’s senseless tariffs will result in higher prices for consumers.

Elon Musk’s access to Treasury payment systems threatens Americans’ national and economic security. As a member of the Financial Services Committee, which oversees the Treasury Department, I'll use all available tools to address this egregious power grab. I'll share updates soon.

Americans deserve a national energy policy that prioritizes the needs of consumers over the wants of energy companies. Last week, I convened experts and stakeholders to discuss how we can fight Trump's efforts to limit access to cleaner, cheaper energy. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/01/31/i...

The Trump Administration’s funding freeze would have disastrous consequences for Illinois. I convened a roundtable of local leaders, stakeholders, and advocates to discuss how a federal funding freeze would impact Illinoisans’ access to cleaner, cheaper energy.

Earlier this week, I connected with Senior Trustee Anthony Puccio and staff members of the Village of Lombard. I look forward to working together throughout the 119th Congress!

As I said yesterday, you cannot take the Trump Administration at their word. You have to watch what they do. Do not let them fool you into thinking this is the end of their assault on Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services.

Donald Trump’s latest unconstitutional and harmful act of pausing federal funding is the latest example that you cannot take the Trump Administration at its word. You have to watch their actions. A thread 🧵:

Donald Trump's pause on virtually all federal funding is a harmful, unnecessary, and unconstitutional directive that has caused mass confusion. It’s not yet clear which programs will be impacted. My office will provide updates as we have them.

Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the approximately 6 million Jewish people and millions of others including political dissidents, intellectuals, Roma, and LGBTQ people murdered during the Holocaust.

ICYMI: My office is collecting Valentines for Veterans! Mail or drop off your cards by Friday, February 7.

It is sickening, unnecessary, and harmful for ICE to show up at an elementary school. Shame on Donald Trump for putting children in harm’s way. casten.house.gov/media/press-...

This week, I introduced the Reinforcing the Grid Against Extreme Weather Act of 2025. This legislation will increase electric grid reliability during increasingly catastrophic weather events. Read more: casten.house.gov/media/press-...

Roe v. Wade was decided 52 years ago, recognizing a woman’s right to control her own body. Almost three years ago, it was overturned by the Supreme Court, and fundamental rights were stripped from millions. I am proud to keep up the fight to restore and protect reproductive rights.

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away! Help send appreciation to our veterans next month by mailing or dropping off valentines by Friday, February 7.

ICYMI: Last week, I was proud to introduce three bills focused on reducing harmful emissions that lead to global warming. Read more about the legislation here:

Donald Trump believes it’s okay to assault police officers in an attempt to overthrow American democracy, as long as it’s done in his honor. So much for the party of law and order.

We now join Libya, Iran, and Yemen as the only countries in the world unwilling to prioritize expanded access to cheaper, cleaner energy. The president wasted no time in embarrassing the United States on the global stage. www.nbcnews.com/science/envi...

Today, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy, I'm reflecting on the honesty of his words, the injustice he spoke out against, and the persistent action he called for. I encourage you to read his Letter from a Birmingham Jail: www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen...

NEWS: According to a study by the Treasury Department, climate-driven extreme weather events have made home insurance more costly and harder to find. Congress must act swiftly to prevent a climate-accelerated collapse of the insurance and housing markets. home.treasury.gov/news/press-r...
