Please don't put in the newspaper that 28 children laughed at me

Re: The Emoluments Clause talk today.

What else is mind blowing about the CPC election stealing email, the remaining two seats in play are Liberal held, so there is no chance of gaining more seats, maybe losing two. We better get a handle on disinformation fast, because we're losing and the CPC are complicit. #cdnpoli

Pierre Poilievre is championed by Alberta separatists as their savior, despite the fact he spent 21 years representing Ottawa elites. And now those Ottawa elites rejected him, so he has chosen to run in the safest conservative seat in the entire country. This is the guy who fights for Alberta?

Going at this time would be a risk. Hard pass

Well. Today is a day I needed more than I knew. An afternoon outside on the deck with a good book. Some alcohol and cigars may have been involved. But a weight I have been carrying gas been lifted. For a little while at least.

Nearly *three-quarters* of American wine exports to Canada vanished by the end of the second full month of Trump 2.0. Hard to overstate how much damage he's inflicted on what had been a $420M+ annual market for US winemakers. Whether this business ever comes back is an open question.

I'm reading "The Rings of the Masters" a sci-fi series of 4 books about an AI that has enslaved humanity. This is the description of that AI created by a genius scientist named Menzelbaum.

Wow. Bang freaking on.

Article NOT paywalled.

Bob Fife, famous senior, called Poilievre a dick. When Bob Fife calls you a dick, the nation agrees. You're a dick forever, and will never not be a dick.

Very encouraging to see this letter to the editor published by the Lethbridge Herald. An Albertan’s surgical dissection of that recent speech by the Queen of Stupid Danielle Smith. 🍁👍🏻🍁 lethbridgeherald.com/commentary/l...

And it's summer! (Unofficially)

This is a more important point than whether or not he can adjust his tone. A significant part of what set the CPC apart from the LPC this past election was MAGA repackaged for a Canadian audience. Repackaged MAGA with a friendlier tone is still repackaged MAGA.

That's the scariest story about Canadian politics I read all week. The implications of what the right-wing "media" wants and expects.

Huh. That sounds familiar

CPC strategy meeting, "How about we sell the sunnier side of authoritarianism? Like, 'if we eliminate democracy, you never have to vote again! Saves time and money!'"

What do you call a child psychic on the run from the law? A small medium at large!

Basically "We didn't anticipate how much people dislike assholes." An asshole with softer cheeks is still an asshole.

"A more conciliatory tone in Parliament"? If that were to emerge, we'd all be asking "Who's this? And what have you done with Pierre?"

There's an old IT security saying that "we rely on the anonymity of the crowd." It's an admission that systems can be easily compromised, but there are so many targets that the odds of being attacked are low.

One way, not the best morally but perhaps best politically, to approach this is to focus on how enforcement of this shit requires inspecting the genitals of any woman (no one seens to care about trans men when they incite trans hatred--a topic for another day).

Frankly, the only surprising thing about this story is that Shoppers only make up 13% of pharmacies in Ontario. There seems to be a store on every corner. www.thestar.com/business/sho...

So, everyone worrying about the Venus probe reentry: yes, it's not designed to burn up in the atmosphere, and that's bad. But, remember Starlink? There's something like one Starlink per day reentering now, and they weigh more than the Venus probe! They say they will burn up completely, but now […]

It's never mentioned that the USA is no longer safe to visit. It's not just weak dollar and 51st state shit. They're now the Fascist States of America. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
