I put a hold on Ed Martin’s nomination. He’s denied elections. Fired quality public servants. Attempted to chill free speech. Turns out he’s also carrying water for the Kremlin. So wholly unfit to be a U.S. Attorney.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

Oh look. Another bribery and extortion scheme.

Corporations who donated to Republicans were more likely to get tariff exemptions during Trump's first term. Now, tech companies like Apple are getting major tariff carveouts. Who donated $1M to Trump's inauguration? Apple CEO Tim Cook. It's crony capitalism.

If the government can pay a foreign state to imprison you and, in so doing, remove you from the protection of US law, the Constitution is worthless.

We're honored to receive National Magazine Awards in both General Excellence and Public Interest this year: propub.li/3RPtlgM "No print or digital magazine had a greater impact on public policy and our national debate than did ProPublica in 2024," judges commented. Congrats to all the winners!

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

Don’t overthink this. He’s asking for bribes.

No taxes on groceries or clothes in Minnesota, but we’re working to lower sales taxes across the board to help Minnesotans afford Trump’s economy. www.startribune.com/grocery-clot...

This has always been the GOP's strategy: 1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves. 2) Explode the deficit. 3) Demand cuts to vital programs that help millions. 4) Repeat. They're trying to get away with it again.

In most societies, the rich and powerful acceded to the rule of law solely because they realized that, as soon as ordinary people feel they’re getting screwed without any chance of peaceful redress, that’s when you get the pitchfork-wielding mobs.

This guy makes a good point but then goes neoliberal. Neoliberal help get us to where we are today.

Every clip I see from Fox News or any of the business channels is basically a higher-resolution version of this. Probably fine!

Trump says he’ll use revenue from tariffs to “offset” more big tax cuts. Those tax cuts will disproportionately benefit wealthy Americans and big corporations. But revenue raised from tariffs will be coming disproportionately from average working people. See how this works?

The IRS unit that audits ultrawealthy earners has lost 38% of its employees this year. This will starve the government of revenue by making it easier for the rich to evade taxes — which the top 1% already do to the tune of $163B a year. See what DOGE is really about?

And yet Joe Rogan puts guests on who say "Vaccines aren't actually responsible for the reduction in infectious diseases.”

DON’T LOOK AWAY. Rumeysa Ozturk is a LEGAL visa holder and graduate student worker with the SEIU Local 509 union. She was kidnapped and disappeared by masked ICE agents on Tuesday. Immigrants are working people. This isn’t a separate fight. An attack on one is an attack on ALL of us.
