If you are cis ("not transgender") I need to explain this to you. Bluesky today posted this vague thread, announcing-without-spelling-out that they're allowing a writer, net troll and anti-trans activist named Jesse Singal to stay on the platform, despite every trans user saying it makes us unsafe.

People often wonder how you can know for sure if an image is created by artificial intelligence. So I marked the things in the image (in the red circles) that make me think it's a fake photo, even though it's not possible to say with absolute certainty in this particular case. Have a great day 🤔

interviewer: what’s your greatest weakness? me: oh they’re all pretty great

Vaccines are why 1 of every 4 of us didn't die in infancy. Fluoride is why most of us keep our teeth into old age. The ACA is why 21 million of us can see a doctor. The FDIC is why we don't lose our life savings. And a handful of GOP billionaires want to take it all away.

New blog post: an autistic guide to Christmas! Let’s see how Bluesky compares to the other place that barely showed these blog links 🙃 www.authenticallyemily.uk/blog/an-auti...

Yes. A Democratic administration bailed them out over the base objection and then they turned around and endorsed Trump because he'll remove more guardrails so they can rob us again.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Biden commutes roughly 1,500 sentences and grants 39 pardons in biggest single-day act of clemency in modern US history.

Feels like this is a good time to repost this essay about the choices I've made. "All corners of public life are showing gradual signs of accommodating Trump. Some of the voices most critical of him three weeks ago have grown more measured. Others have gone silent."

Chicago has just started to dip its toe into the waters of this design strategy, and it’s exciting to see. This example is on Belmont at Hoyne.

lmfao in case you needed proof of how stupid NYC’s new outdoor dining rules are, L’industrie (top slice shop in the city) just parked an old school bus outside and turned it into a dining area

Trans people are precious.

Hey Blueskyers Want an opportunity to make a big difference in planning? Well, Queensland’s top job, State Planner, is advertised right now. So if you’re looking for a senior role where you can make a big contribution to our future, throw your hat in the ring! www.seek.com.au/job/80712350...

After years of talking to Trump supporters my view of them has become very simple: They want socialist, even sometimes progressive reforms but they want them from someone who makes those reforms feel powerful and masculine and they want to make sure the people they don't like don't benefit from them

"Are there no workhouses?" says an actual nonfictional person, two weeks before Christmas, completely unironically.

I can’t wait to see what adventures these human and animal friends get into! @lollardfish.bsky.social

This just in: The City of Kenmore (population 24,000, north end of Lake Washington) just started 24/7 camera enforcement of speed limits in school zones. No fines have been issued yet, just warnings. The rate of people speeding has dropped from 50% to 5%.

Who among us has *not* behaved "suspiciously" at a McDonald's?

The Greeks absolutely had it right when they included a chorus in their plays. They knew audiences are dumbasses who need to be told “THIS MAN IS BAD. HE IS HERE AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT *NOT* TO DO. WOE TO THE BUMPTIOUS FOOL WHO WOULD IDOLIZE HIM. YOU ARE NOT, NOR DO YOU WANT TO BE, ALEX DELARGE”

Bunch of tankie weirdos on this app lamenting the fall of Assad Most leftist ideas are OK but they're always stuck in this mode of being underoo contrarians like Tim Pool but w a larger vocabulary Brutal dictators suck. Syria has a chance to be free. Spare us your pretentious clove scented whining

While I recognize that nothing happens in isolation and all things are interconnected and complicated I’m still going to appreciate what’s happening in Syria and not listen to the voices that like to say that everything that happens that might be good is bad, actually.

From Julian Röpcke, Xitter 3 km from the Syrian presidential palace. Assad's soldiers change their uniforms for civilian clothes. A bit of Berlin, 1945. 2024 in Damascus.

The War in #Syria has produced some of the most outrageous weaponry on this planet.

Russian forces have evacuated their S-400 long-range SAM battery from Khmeimim Air Base in western Syria. Multiple 5P85SM2 TELs were spotted earlier today driving south down the M1 highway towards the port of Tartus.

You might say they turned out to be... paper tigers www.thenationalnews.com/news/mena/20...

The moment the Rastan Bridge, connecting Homs to Hama, was reportedly targeted by Assad's forces in an effort to prevent rebel advancement, conflicting reports emerged, suggesting the strike has'nt damage the bridge. If true, this would be a desperate measure by the regime.
