#WelfareNotWarfare Across the UK Disabled People are mobilising to begin the fight back against cuts to disability benefits which some call “Labour Government Disability Poll Tax’ Wed 26th March 2025 11am Meet at Downing Street Whitehall London SW1A 2AA & after a rally march to Parliament

I can’t stop thinking about all the chronically ill people who will be reduced to destitution levels of poverty but are too sick to get to a food bank. That was me once. And the changes to PIP will make it even harder to qualify for a benefit not designed for us. Who will speak up for us?

"We need to ask government what they think they're doing when they say disabled people ought to work, but they're making it damn near impossible for us to do so." - Me for Novara Media live last night on Labour's cuts to PIP and other disability benefits

Great piece of analysis from the mighty @stefbenstead.bsky.social about the success or otherwise of recent government schemes to get people with long term health conditions into work www.stefbenstead.co.uk/post/evidenc...

The government is right to try to 'de-risk' the journey into work for people on incapacity benefits, through the kind of 'right to try' they are trailing today Taken along with the plans to improve employment support announced last year, it could have formed a transformative agenda But... 1/3

#WelfareNotWarfare DPAC Day of Action! Wednesday 26th March 2025 #WelfareNotWarfare 📢 Join us📢✊🏼

This is spot on from Sonia Sodha www.theguardian.com/society/comm...

No to divide rule, they need to dump the whole policy paper. Keep up the pressure, one for all and all for one. No one gets left behind here.

It’s time to take action. Keep up the pressure on MPs. It’s working.

New: “A number of new MPs who spoke to the Guardian said they did not believe the government could push ahead with plans to freeze some personal independence payments given the scale of the backlash”. ✔️✔️✔️(though not just PIP). Please -if you have the spoons - write to your MP if you haven’t already.

I have emailed my MP to ask her to oppose the government's plans to slash health and disability benefits. Here is a quick and easy way to do it

#DisabilityBenefits Please write to your MP using this template letter about worries on benefit cuts & impact on you Link here thecorbynproject.com/no-cuts/

Excellent briefing from Ellen Clifford on the history and context for Labours proposed disability benefit cuts. dpac.uk.net/2025/03/hand...

Send a letter to your MP, go on, you know you want to.

"It seems that the question of survival for organisations of people with disabilities has become even more obvious." – a former recipient of USAID funding. Today's Debrief opens the mailbox: www.disabilitydebrief.org/debrief/hand...

An ageing working-age population accounts for one-fifth of the rise in working-age health-related benefit caseloads. All else being equal, we would expect an ageing population + rising State Pension age to increase this caseload.

#HandsOffDisabilityBenefits We need u to email your MP using template which can amend Link; docs.google.com/document/d/1... Invite MP to DPAC Parliament Meeting Monday 17th March 2025 4-6pm Thatcher Room Portcullis House london & discuss benefit cuts www.parliament.uk/get-involved...

📣 Citizens Advice joined Scope to urge the Chancellor to reconsider potential cuts to disability benefits. Cuts would have a catastrophic impact on disabled people, pushing even more disabled households into poverty. Read our open letter to the Chancellor ⬇️ www.scope.org.uk/campaigns/op...

Disability isn't rare. It isn't a niche issue. If you live long enough, it will affect you or someone you love. These cuts aren't just an attack on us-they're a warning to everyone.

"My disabled life is not glamorous, nor is it particularly beautiful. This life is unbearably lonely, often painful, and filled with fear of the unknown about the future. But it deserves to be witnessed." – Rachel Litchman on poverty and chronic illness www.disabilitydebrief.org/debrief/forg...

One if the best things ive read in a long time. Achingly raw and real. www.disabilitydebrief.org/debrief/forg...

Labour is expected to finalise a package of benefit cuts in the next fortnight in a “radical overhaul” that could affect hundreds of thousands of disabled people. My col. in today’s paper on a system that expects those with the least to lose the most.  www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The only assistance people want disabled people to have is assistance to die.

Policy changes around Disability benefits kills people, ruins lives and kills hope and the hope that progressive change is possible. Disabled people claiming benefits they are entitled to don't control the economy. Spreadsheet cells in Whitehall offices hide human misery in column totals.

This from @francesryan.bsky.social is achingly familiar. My husband is completely bedbound w/ v severe ME. He cannot meet any basic needs without help. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve had to justify why he can’t be left alone without care. It’s exhausting. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

@ellenclifford.bsky.social 's recent court triumph shows the importance of standing up for what's right. That's why we’re asking you, and as many as possible, to write to your MP. Your voice, with 1000s more, can have a significant impact on decisions made in Westminster.

Spare just 2 minutes of your time to help protect the livelihood of millions of Disabled people.Join @campaignfdj.bsky.social and say YES to health, employment and engagement and NO to disability benefit cuts. Write to your MP in 3 easy steps https://buff.ly/3WiBs8m #OpportunitySecurityRespect
