Stop me if you heard this before: DOJ filed this totally collusive suit against Texas (which settled in six hours) in Wichita Falls—where it had a 100% chance of being assigned to Judge Reed O’Connor. Once again, it’s the Trump administration that’s judge-shopping, not its challengers.

Jonathan Joss' husband Tristan has released another statement saying that donations to their old home GoFundMe are not needed at this time and would ask for everyone to direct their energy towards spreading the message about how he was in fact murdered in a hate crime

Messing with Texas is going to be a moral obligation in the coming years

There's just so much pain here. Thinking of how the now-vice president baselessly attacked the integrity of every day Haitian immigrants, then admitted it didn't matter to him if his accusations were true because the point was to build anti-immigrant sentiment.

I don’t care who takes over as Oversight Chair—as long as House Democrats stop defaulting to seniority and start picking the person who can actually use that seat to bring the heat and hold Trump accountable. My money’s on Jasmine Crockett or Robert Garcia. We cannot afford to screw this up again.

Did…did this chucklehead just ban the wrong Congo?

🚨🚨🚨 In the last two hours, the Trump admin: - Banned all immigrant visas from 19 countries, including Cuba, Haiti, and Venezuela - Banned all student and researcher visas to Harvard - Colluded with Texas to kick 20,000 undocumented college students off of in-state tuition.

None said AOC. Of course, none said Schumer, but the Jeffries... Yikes. I think Wu is the best answer that came up.

🚨Another HUGE bit of news tonight; in collaboration with the Trump admin, Texas just kicked 20,000 undocumented college students — people who grew up in Texas and graduated from high school there — out of eligibility for in-state tuition. This may force thousands to drop out.

here's the clip

(It's a very NY debate. The arguing! But everyone in NY speaks that language.)

NYC has so many better choices for mayor than Cuomo.

A thing I think it’s worth stressing is that even the voters who are squeamish about trans rights can spot tactical pandering when it’s this obvious. They’ll be repulsed by the cowardice and lack of principle even if they’re on board at the policy level.

This is why: 1) they had no clue about the Boulder attack, and; 2) they had to turn the Boulder attack into an immigration case ASAP.

The reason certain people are pushing Dems to get more anti-trans/anti-immigrant/anti-abortion etc. is not because they believe most Dem voters hold those views, it’s because they themselves hold those views and think they are good and right, so no amount of poll data is going to make them shut up

Chile staffing shortages at BLS mean they have fewer people to call businesses and get prices to create the cpi so they have to sub the prices for some items that they can't call about with the price of other items. In April, that practice doubled and can't be fixed until they're allowed to hire.

“That child deserves our support,” @governorwalz.mn.gov continued. “Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”

“.. I work in Toys and we had about 600 price changes in the last couple days... EVERYTHING went up," one user posted last week. “It's f***ing crazy." @the-independent.com $WMT $TGT www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

New — I wrote about the injustice unfolding before our eyes as rich reality stars are pardoned for their crimes while law-abiding immigrants are rounded up and caged by ICE, and the way communities are rising up to say fuck no.

BREAKING: Ming Li "Carol" Hui has been released from prison by ICE, her lawyer confirms to me. She's headed home to the Missouri town where she's lived for 20 years. She still could face deportation, so the battle continues. Our interview with her from jail: newrepublic.com/article/1959...

Susan Collins is the Teddy Ruxpin of senators — she doesn’t actually *do* anything but you’re supposed to be impressed because she has three sentences she plays on repeat.

Prior iterations of these Trump travel bans were in fact Muslim Bans intended to target Muslim majority countries but reversed engineered in a way so that the criteria would appear neutral and capture a few other token countries.

"The people who don't feel safe are young women, mothers, and grandmothers around Andrew Cuomo." — NYC mayoral candidate Michael Blake answering a debate question about subway safety

NEW: ICE has quietly rescinded a policy requiring agents to ensure courthouse raids don't clash with state and local laws. WIRED detected the missing language in a superseding memo posted to ICE's website this week. by me and @dmehro.bsky.social:

As Joni Ernst would say, “we are all going to die.”

Instant follow, a really vital addition to this space

Complicated decision! Boasberg agrees with the DOJ and finds that the U.S. does NOT have constructive custody over the CECOT detainees, but, finding that their removal was a violation of due process, orders DHS to find a way to “facilitate the ability [of the people in CECOT] to seek habeas relief.”

Rep. Joyce: “Who is the administrator of the DOGE service? Who is the administrator the U.S. DOGE Temporary Service? And who do they report to?” Russell Vought: “..It's been led by Steve Davis and we're in the midst of—with the last week or so—of establishing the leadership on an ongoing basis.”

This is good. Rather than impose his own remedy (which would immediately send the administration wailing to SCOTUS about foreign policy and executive power), Judge Boasberg wants the administration to propose a solution to the rights violation.

Following DOGE-led layoffs, NNSA leaders told the Senate they’re managing serious staffing shortages Safety oversight and weapons modernization are at risk Davis Winkie reports for USA TODAY.

Big Blaring Siren for Trump Recession "Payrolls processing firm ADP said Wednesday that private sector job creation slowed to a near standstill in May, signaling a weakening labor market. Payrolls increased just 37,000 for the month" Eyes on Friday's jobs report www.cnbc.com/2025/06/04/u...

Three comments here: yes, Columbia gained nothing by appeasement; BUT this isn’t a move to celebrate. Federal input like this to accreditation agencies— which are independent— isn’t how things are supposed to work. Remember the admin wants to co-opt accreditation— this is a step in that direction.

In a Supreme Court filing, class counsel in DVD (the South Sudan removals case) say they have yet to hear from the men sent to Djibouti in defiance of a court order, though the judge separately ordered the government to allow access to counsel

🚨WOW. It turns out that a "Tren de Aragua gathering" the Trump admin said it broke up in March ... was just a BIRTHDAY PARTY. None of the people arrested at the party seem to have any criminal record — and none have been charged criminally in the months since it happened. Read the story below.

NEWS In a new filing, immigration lawyers urge SCOTUS not to grant the Trump admin's request to pause an order blocking their due-process-free flights to human rights-abusing ad war-torn countries like South Sudan. Here's how it ends. Background www.allrisenews.com/p/south-suda...

Good friend of mine had a client arrested at an ISAP check-in today. They denied him permission to attend the check-in with his client and then only told him that she'd been arrested and sent over to 26 Federal Plaza after he demanded to know what had happened to her.

Not a single one of these people raised a peep when judges were doing this against Biden!

They're accusing Harvard of anti-semitism at the same time they're criticizing it for refusing to hire a Holocaust denier?

Listen, these RTO policies are getting out of hand

Ah. So, all the attacks on Harvard are supposedly about stopping antisemitism on campus... but they need to hire a holocaust denier in the name of "diversity of viewpoints." Got it.

Hopefulness at this tempered by concern that the psychopaths running the country will suppress or otherwise hinder the research

This is pretty devastating. Lutnick admits that tariffs were never about reciprocity, eliminating foreign trade barriers, or negotiating better deals. They just don't like international trade. Period. He even says about imports: "we don't want other people making them."
