Suburban-coded behavior, fuck this guy

The other night at dinner one of my friends watched me struggle to come up with movies I've seen that have plots, anyway here's my best of the 21st century ballot

RCV, things I hate edition: 1. Andrew Cuomo 2. Summer (i.e., I'm melting from my 1.5 walk to the polls)

Guys who make illegal rights on red endorse Andrew Cuomo

How I feel after walking one (1) block to run an errand

the way this guy boasts about the 2nd avenue subway drives me nuts. it was three (3) goddamn stops that cost more than Grand Coulee Dam and took ten (10) years to finish

Many things are bad but also my dog got a haircut

Cuomo and Bill Clinton are picking up Kevin Spacey then they’re all gonna break Harvey Weinstein out of jail to start a sexual predator Fantastic Four.

“This is not constitutional!” I cry as the temu-bought katana enters my belly

"Thank you for your attention to this matter" is what you say when you are complaining to customer service about a missing package, and also apparently when you announce a war on your fascist social media app

Why, this is very midsummer madness.

Once in like 1999 I went into a Gristedes to buy some cereal and milk and when I opened the milk fridge a fucking bat flew out, hit me in the face, and flew up to the ceiling (its home, clearly) and when I told the woman at the front she was like yeah, he gets trapped in there sometimes

BDB's "Andrew Cuomo: fuck that guy" tour around every media outlet that will have him is my version of a summer blockbuster

Interesting that I’m not seeing any reports of the “He’s An Asshole But The City Needs An Asshole To Stand Up To Trump” mayoral candidate doing any standing up to Trump re: the unjustified arrest of the sitting Comptroller

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

There are a lot of people on this site who are now such copyright maximalists that it would make Disney's in-house counsel blush

not sure there's a more embarrassing profession than ICE agent. Oh, you dress like a soldier to abduct sous chefs and throw flashbangs at protesters? Get a real job you loser

Sometimes one sees a first-person plural in a memoir and cannot but think "this writer had a 'we tell ourselves stories in order to live' magnet in 2014 but, alas, is not Joan Didion"

The mental health memoir is an aesthetically unsatisfying genre because the people who can make art out of the experience do that instead

You can watch Center Stage and think "no way would Cooper's ballet be part of a student showcase" or "lmao this comes from the Kenneth MacMillan school of make the choreography as hard as possible for the men"

You can always tell I've been to the vet when I start posting about how 125th is one of the worst crosstown thoroughfares in Manhattan

Midtown (derogatory)

Saw these two eras of pickup truck parked next to one another and it almost looks like an optical illusion

last day before vacation

very cool that for ten years people at the heights of political commentary insisted to the point of rage that the paramount threat to free speech was “censorious” college students

Suffering is when you make an extremely funny joke predicated on a working knowledge of both Latin and Greek and nobody laughs

Just bought tickets from a place that had a giant "we are committed to accessibility" header at checkout where that was emphasized over like... ticket delivery or directions to the venue. I'm not going to write an antiwoke origin story or anything, but some of this stuff IS silly

Fulfilled one of my teenage fantasies today (got a fancy dictionary)
