This sucks.

I'm really glad I never delete anything off my phone. I have around 30 voicemails from my mom ranging from mundane everyday stuff to her singing happy birthday to me. I backed them all up. I'm glad I'll still be able to hear her voice in the years to come. Especially on my birthday which is soon. 🥺

My mom was moved to hospice yesterday evening and passed away a few hours later. I'm doing as well as I can be, but it was a huge shock. Thank you so much for your outpouring of love and support. I'm so grateful for the community around me both in person and online. You all mean so much to me. ♥️

I can't thank you all enough. My mom has been in the hospital since the beginning of February with stage 4 stomach cancer. She's not going to survive. I'm trying to be with her as much as I can and your support is helping me do that by covering gas and meals. It truly means the world to me. ♥️

I'm scrambling around because my mom is in the hospital an hour away and my car broke down again so I borrowed a car, but that meant I had to buy gas again and I'm just gonna gently place my Ko-fi here with no expectations, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something.. ko-fi.com/cavetoonist/

The writing process

I'm not going to explain this too deeply because it's related to my ArtRPG hobby, but I had a dream about a little guy with a handaxe for a head and now this little guy exists. Their name is Flint of course!!! (Based on the West Tofts handaxe that has a fossil shell embedded in the stone.)

I don't know if I have 20 pieces, but I'm using this as an excuse to share some of the cave art inspired ceramics I made in 2020-2021! Lascaux Bird-Man and Bison cup, 2021

Happy discount candy day!

I FINALLY feel like I'm making progress on my capstone paper! I had a really rough start to the term, but I'm getting there!!

I don't understand why writing a paper I WANT to write is so much harder than writing a paper I don't want to write? Anyway, I have a milestone due tonight and I'm struggling..! 😫

Heheheee that's me! Thank you Erin!!! 💖

My capstone is about the archeological evidence of children in the Upper Paleolithic and I maaaay have chosen this topic specifically to do more research for my graphic novel about kids growing up in that time period. Two birds one capstone. 😂

Happy hourly comics day! Friendly reminder (to myself and whoever else needs it) that you don't have to participate if you can't/don't want to. It's not a requirement! You're still a great cartoonist!! I'll be working on my capstone paper today and I really gotta focus. 💪😤✨

I just have to post this #iceage masterpiece from time to time: A tiny (3.7 cm) but amazing figurine of a woolly mammoth carved in mammoth ivory some 40,000 years ago. Found in the Vogelherd cave on the Swabian Jura, south-west Germany. 📷 by me #archaeology 🏺

I should probably talk to my therapist about why receiving praise makes me cry my eyes out. 🥺 I want to believe in myself more!

I talked with my anthropology capstone professor today about about my ideas for my final project and he told me that I'm thinking on a graduate student level. Okay yeah I'm gonna let my ego be the size of a blimp today. I deserve it. 😌

I'm also about to finish an anthropology degree, but I went back to school for that so I could gain the skills I need to make educational graphic novels about my special interests. So it still all comes back to comics. 😂

if you went to college, 1. what was your career goal when you started? 2. your initial major? 3. if you changed majors, what did you change to? 4. what do you do now professionally 1. Comics! 2. Comics! 3. I switched to animation for two semesters early on then switched back to comics! 4. Comics!!!

I finished my last shift at my day job! I'm officially a full-time cartoonist!! I have client work thru summer and then I'll be pitching my graphic novel about kids growing up in Upper Paleolithic Europe! I've worked super hard for this and I'm so grateful for the opportunities that lead me here! 🥹💖
