Good morning to this guy, standing outside my local mall’s Tesla store

Why did Hegseth just fire every top military branch lawyer? What did they refuse to sign off on? A Pulitzer awaits the reporters and outlet who can tell the public.

Happy Black History Month!

March 6: Join us in NYC to celebrate the launch of D&S board member Catherine Bracy's new book "World Eaters," a look at how the venture capital playbook is harming society. With @cbracy.bsky.social, D&S exec director Janet Haven, & advisor @feliciawong.bsky.social. techequity.us/event/world-...

Every accusation is a confession.

URGENT: The folks at Americans for Financial Reform are looking for stories from people who’ve been helped by CFPB. Please read this call to action and share far and wide! 🚨 Let’s save CFPB 🚨 Pass it on.

Here’s the pitch: They hire back the accidentally-fired bird flu folks *and* the accidentally-fired nuclear security guys BUT they put them in each other’s jobs — also by accident! It’s TRADING PLACES meets FAILSAFE meets CONTAGION — and maybe also FREAKY FRIDAY! Need a title.

My dining nook has never looked better 😂

It’s heeeeeerrrre!! Oof, four years later. It feels like a lifetime. I definitely did not have “VC takes over the federal govt” on my bingo card when I started writing. I hope you all will join me on the book tour! techequity.us/events/

In fairness to the AI, I also cannot do 13x13 in my head.

Thank you, DOGE, for clearly visualizing what incredible value the American people get from their national parks. 17,700 permanent employees making an average of $81,000 a year serving 325 million visitors annually. Is there a better value in the entire federal government?

A thing I have been saying for the past couple years is that AI is labor devaluation scheme. There are very few areas in which capitalists are so perturbed by costs as in labor. The goal is to reduce labor cost to nothing. There are only a few ways to achieve this. www.newyorker.com/culture/infi...

Christ EVERYBODY wants to work for Andreessen Horowitz these days

I thought Scott Bessent was supposed to be the adult in the room

this this this 1000 times & believe me there have been a ton of people, often led by Black women, pushing back on the idea of all-powerful engineers over the last 20 years, but the industry has disempowered critical people & disciplines (eg QA & UX) ruthlessly over that time

NYC friends: join me on March 6! Interesting time to be publishing a book about venture capital…

Isn’t this exactly what QAnon was warning us about? Where are they now that this is reality?

Backronym game is 💯

Any four Republican Senators could stop this at any time simply by threatening to block all action (or even caucus with the Democrats) if Trump doesn't make certain concessions. They won't, but that should be a much bigger story than whether the Democrats are doing everything that *they* can.

I’m gonna give you one guess whose idea this was.

Paging @ering.bsky.social

hey quick question does Goliath win in that story

The first Senators to actually do anything about the Trump admin

I've been annoyed with Klein for months, BUT there are some really good bits here. these nightmare early actions reveal political weakness - that matters & is something good people can use in fighting back (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/o...

Asking for a friend

I need “I will de-Nazify shit, but I won’t re-Nazify shit” merch

These are not “settlements” they are “bribes” and should be described accurately. The reporting even explains that CBS executives believe this payment will help avert Trump blocking their merger. Thats a bribe. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/b...

It’s heeeere. In DC, SF, or NYC in early March? Come say hi! And tell your friends!

At least we know he won’t be outlawing tanning beds

I mean honestly this is kind of what OpenAI is already: nymag.com/intelligence...

To the people who scoff that we’re overreacting to the threat of AI job loss because the tech isn’t good enough to replace humans, please understand that companies do not give a fuck about providing high quality service to their customers. It costs them less to piss you off than hire more people.

I think this is where @theferocity.bsky.social says ::looks directly at camera::

“This administration believes that the moon is made of cheese. This administration feels that there are 103 states. This administration asserts that penguins are communists. This administration thinks that Mickey Mouse did 9/11. This administration holds that mangoes are the real racists. This …”
