The Republican response to constituents yelling at them at town halls is pretty obvious. Just stop having town halls.

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

And that's the way it is. Good night, and Trump sucks.

Here’s the hard truth: this country’s people are tired of subsidizing billionaires. Want your cars to sell? Do it without subsidies. Want to shoot rockets into space? Get by without govt contracts. Want to build a website? Build your own internet first. We are DONE with you.

This press secretary is dumber than Kayleigh McNinny, and that's not easy.

What the fuck is wrong with Democrats

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Daddy's home and he hates kids.

Don't be fooled by the talk of "precision." The doughy, ketamine-addled man boy is incapable of precision when it comes to government functioning (or child-rearing). The cruelty and disasters will continue.

—Come on up, Martin Cunningham said to the subsheriff. I don’t think you knew him or perhaps you did, though. With John Wyse Nolan Mr Power followed them in.

They talk about the Me, Too movement as if that were something separate and detachable from feminist history and thought.

The colonizers believe that they are superior to everyone else, and therefore the notion of equality poses a threat to their comfort. They didn’t say “all human beings are equal” but “all men,” and they didn’t say “all white men” because of course that was assumed.

The wildest part of this is that my parents were forced to learn English, my Tribal language was stolen from me and this foreign one was forced down my throat. I was required to learn the history of the colonizers who came here, and my own history was an elective. My people’s knowledge systems were

It's weird how everyone in the world knows a Nazi salute when we see it, with the notable exception of journalists and their editors.

My problem with psychedelics, back when I was young, was not that they made everything seem unreal. It was that they made everything seem too real.

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

okay, it’s time for me to finally weigh in: it’s probably a bad sign that guys are just doing sieg heils in public again

2 fucking headlines right next to each other

WOW "Seven western Wisconsin Republican lawmakers did not appear at an event hosted by the Wisconsin Farmers Union in Chippewa Falls Friday as farmers from the area said they were concerned about the effect that President Donald Trump’s first month in office is having on their livelihoods." ⤵️

“A traitor U.S. president? There have been movies that had that, but in real life? No one could believe it. Therefore we don’t believe it.”

There is no such thing as not voting: you either vote by voting, or you vote by staying home and tacitly doubling the value of some diehard's vote. — David Foster Wallace

The stories they tell about the hero who never lies and is always right are boring. These stories they tell themselves about themselves. It’s just bad fiction.

There’s something happening in this country.

There’s not a word in this story about the corrupt nature of this dismissal. Not a concern voiced, not a question raised, not even an acknowledgment that he’s the president’s biggest donor and he’s acting as an unelected, unconfirmed tyro wielding unchecked power over spending and the civil service.

How it started. How it’s going

I was talking to an acquaintance on the phone today, when he mentioned going to church on Sunday. “You go to church?!” I said. “It’s Unitarian, so don’t get too excited, Chris.”

Today the Balcony, a Facebook group about movies that I belong to, moved to a discussion forum site. We originally started as an email listserv in the early ‘90s. People were leaving Facebook for obvious reasons, so this is a good response.

This could be the biggest test of faith in our lifetimes, and if anyone's failing it seems to be the people who are loudest about religion.

The ultimate prize of vocational awe!

The American media is poison. The American media suffers from Van Munchhausen syndrome. They feed us disease. They feed us lies. They feed us poison in order to report on our suffering

We talk about MAGA disinfo, then people on our side of fighting fascism are still like, Trump is a Russian asset? That sounds too much like a crime thriller, can't be true. Study history from countries occupied by Russia. Buying off corrupt traitors was how Russia ensured help of local collaborators

As much as I like hopefulness, the author is still arguing for “reprogramming” Republican minds. It’s a losing strategy! Rally the base, rally the potential voters to actually vote, but give up trying to appeal to Republicans.

A former Soviet intelligence officer alleges Trump was recruited by the KGB in 1987 and given the codename “Krasnov.” Alnur Mussayev served in the 6th Directorate, responsible for counter-intelligence support in the economy. One key objective was “recruiting businessmen from capitalist countries.”

We must stop trying to persuade right wing voters. They’re gone, OK? You can’t wake people up from a coma that’s been induced for decades. We can only rally the people who are aware. Rally the base. There is no “unity” of all Americans. THERE NEVER WAS.

One of the reasons I won’t watch MSNBC anymore is all the Republican guests who are on the shows. I discovered that even though they attack Trump, they believe that the GOP was normal before Trump. They want the party to be restored. But I firmly believe that the party must be eradicated.

It takes some courage to disobey. Disobeying could mean arrest, but there are other consequences that are possible as well: job loss, persecution of family and associates, infliction of pain, even death. Most people don’t have that much courage. Unfortunately, we need to find it.

Surviving footage of the Nuremburg rallies shows thousands of people making a provocative and controversial gesture.

Imagine being so dumb that you thought this was preferable to how it was under Biden.

I don’t believe for a minute he legitimately won any more than I believe he was struck by a bullet.

Here's one of the warnings I gave in an article before the US election. It's devastating to see it all happening. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

people need to realize that we are now entering a reality where the U.S. is still a massive global presence except it’s *just* unadulterated evil
