Hey, all of you peeps who voted for him because Kamala “supported genocide.” How’s that going for you?

Stop sleepwalking my fellow liberal twats. This shit just got real.

Wearing cowrie shells to ward off evil. #holyfuckitsreallyhappening

Part 9: The interview with Special Victims is an awful experience. In San Francisco, the victim will be required to visit SVU in person. The SVU is located in the same derelict building as the jail. Within the building, they will be forced to use the same elevator as men in shackles.

Part 8: Now, the victim will try for weeks to get an interview with the Special Victims Unit. They will be told repeatedly that “we are understaffed.” And that “there is no one available for us to assign your case to.” If the victim is loud enough, maybe they will get an interview more quickly.

Part 7: In San Francisco, the victim is supposed to be assigned an “advocate” by the DA’s office. This person is supposed to help the victim navigate the hell to come. But they usually don’t bother, and often simply forget. Their case loads are full. Child assault to domestic violence.

Part 6. The compassion shown to the victims ends after the hospital exam. It is now up to them to advocate for themselves, to ask for justice. The attacker will not be brought in for questioning, or for a DNA sample. They are free to continue to assault others.

Part 5. The “rape kit” takes about 4 hours. In San Francisco at least, a female or gay nurse is assigned to you. This makes good sense, and is compassionate. The “rape kit” takes a minimum of 6-8 weeks to process. Why? Who knows. Yet it only takes 24andMe two weeks to tell me I’m half Irish.

Part 4. When you are sexually assaulted, you may decide that you will make a police report. They will then ask you if you want to go to the hospital to undergo a “rape kit.” Blood tests. You are swabbed for DNA inside and out. Your bruises are measured and photographed. #shamemustchangesides

Part 3. As many women know all to well, rape often doesn’t happen in a dark alley at night. It can be a date, a friend, a boyfriend, even a husband. We don’t always scream and run away. The responses to being sexually assaulted as as varied as we are. We can freeze, go numb. We disassociate.

Part 2. Here goes…. If you were to be sexually assaulted in the US today, you would think that the law would help you in any way possible. That is NOT the case. Instead, the victim must PROVE that they were assaulted. Reporting it to the police, and a rape kit is not enough.

Just to be clear, Canada’s top military commander is a woman. Yet, the US can’t even stomach a female president. #feministthreads

I’d like to begin a conversation about how the current laws for sexual assault cases favor the attacker. This is certainly the case in the US. And is most definitely the case here in California. I’ll begin… #shamemustchangesides

#WriterWednesday library-love moment.

There is an air of defeat here in the Bay Area that just feels like everyone has given up. HOWEVER… For the first time, I live with the knowledge that many HERE VOTED for him. I live amongst my enemies for the first time. 💔
