The Land of Lincoln DSA is on Bluesky now, by popular demand! And by popular, I mean a couple people asked about it. But hey, since we're here, we might as well mingle! If you're DSA-curious, get in touch with us!

Given the challenges that we will be facing, it is important to learn to do better, more effective mutual aid. Join us for a member-guided discussion about the book Mutual Aid by Dean Spade (with @amb.his101.com) at Whimsey Tea Company at 6:30 PM on March 22! —Wrik, treasurer

Here's a post I meant to make two weeks ago; back in February, the DSA helped out with Warm Meal Wednesdays at Intricate Minds. I made some vegan fried rice, Salem made the spiciest rice and beans I've ever witnessed, and a couple other people brought stuff. Afterwards, we had our weekly meeting.

Land of Lincoln DSA is joining other DSA chapters in demanding the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil. This is a fascist attempt to erode civil rights that countless before us fought and died for. Add your name to the millions demanding his release - Michael actionnetwork.org/letters/dema...

Comms meeting was a bust again. I proposed we up our security in a really simple way; printing our meeting notes in encoded pamphlets. It was shot down on the basis that 1) We don't have the capacity to print out pamphlets at this time and 2) We don't need to be spreading our meeting notes.

I finished “The Message” by Ta-Nehisi Coates, which is about the author’s travels to Senegal, South Carolina, and Palestine; he explores the throughlines between these places’ specific histories and much else. There will be a panel discussion about this book at the Lincoln Library on Monday! —Wrik

You can still respond to Elon's request to know what you did last week for a few more hours. You don't even have to be a Federal employee. The email is [email protected] Salem King, Secretary

It's becoming clearer and clearer that our city government refuses to listen to even the most moderate asks from the Massey Commission. And the fact that our own Mayor refused to meet with a member of the Massey family on the commission is utterly fucking detestable. www.youtube.com/live/xO0X4hm...

Another monday, another comms meeting. My proposal to restrict in-branch communications to trained carrier ants was shot down due to being financially prohibitive and being actually literally the stupidest thing Salem has ever heard in their entire life. Ron, Tech Coordinator

Comms meeting is finished. My suggestion to stage fake meetings with life-sized replicas of ourselves was voted down. Evidently it is prohibitively expensive to buy wooden dummies and set them up in parks around town, and also SOME people think it would look incredibly creepy. Ron, Tech Coordinator

Hey, here are some pictures from the DSA table at the Springfield Call 2 Action event at the Lincoln Public Library! Pictured are Salem King, the elected CIDSA secretary and Wrick Chatterjee, the elected CIDSA treasurer.

My proposal to switch our branch communications exclusively to encoded sky-writing was shot down during comms. Evidently, it's 'prohibitive in terms of cost and manpower.' It wouldn't be prohibitive if OTHER PEOPLE would learn how to fly a biplane. It's not THAT hard. Ron, CIDSA Tech Coordinator

Little late on this one, but here are some pictures of two of our officers, Ron and Salem, helping out at a local unhoused outreach center called Intricate Minds. Salem is the one throwing out garbage. Ron (that's me!) is the one with his back turned to the camera for some reason.

Unfortunately, my motion to start having meetings at randomly assigned underpasses while black cloaks and Eyes Wide Shut masks was shot down during the comms meeting. It's maximum information security, folks. We won't even be able to identify each other! Ron, Central Illinois Tech Coordinator

Holy balls it's cold out today. And snowy. I had to go out and push a car that was stuck in a snow bank, and it took three of us to get it out. The danger is real. Stay safe out there, people. Look twice and drive slow. Ron, Central Illinois Tech Coordinator

Central Illinois DSA is now on Bluesky! We have an ambitious year planned, and we're looking to expand our membership! If you live in the Central Illinois area, get in touch with us! Ron, Central Illinois Tech Coordinator
