Getting Started

This is the first event of our new joint research seminar PHO2—The Ostrava-Oulu Research Seminar in the Philosophy of History. All welcome, and for more details, please see below. Plus, the whole seminar schedule for spring will be published soon too. Stay tuned!

Another event, taking place today already: The Centre's director Aviezer Tucker will speak today at the University of Salamanca, Spain, on "When Two (Expert) Heads are better than One: The Generation of Knowledge from Expert Testimonies". More information: novatores.usal.es/programa.html.

Next week will be a busy one! Two of the Centre's members, @david-cernin.bsky.social and @ggangl.bsky.social, will give talks outside of Ostrava. David Černín will speak next week Wednesday (5.03) in Hradec Kralove and Georg Gangl the day after (6.03) in Krakow. More info on both events here below!

Below part II of my text on historiographic morality. In this part, I discuss the relationship between historiography's epistemic goals and moral judgments and some specific arguments of William Dray and Isaiah Berlin concerning the necessity of moral judgments in historiography.
