An excellent, thoughtful overview of what hospice is from a hospice professional. If you've experienced it, you understand the many, conflicting emotions it can create.

@dynarski.bsky.social Feng Fu and Xingru Chen wrote a variation of zero-determinant game theory called the unbending strategy. “[W]hen an extortioner is faced with an unbending player, their best response is to offer a fair split, thereby guaranteeing an equal payoff for both parties,” said Chen.

More insanity in #Ohio. The GOP wants to give $600 mil to prop up a for-profit business at the same time they're hoping to stiff schools. smfh And h/t to @howardw72.bsky.social and @917wvxu.bsky.social for not shying away from reporting on important issues like this. www.wvxu.org/politics/202...

Carr is the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission of the United States

There are only ever two reasons why Trump does something: He thinks it will benefit him personally, or he thinks it will harm someone he dislikes. He has literally no other motivations.

We found the voter fraud!!!!!

The President's actions are classic abuser behavior. They threaten you, harm you, make up (kind of), then repeat, all while trying to convince you it's all YOUR fault, and basically keeping you destabilized so you're easier to manipulate. The world are all victims of his domestic violence right now.

When trying to explain why we have laws that regulate individual behavior, I used to contrast DUI laws - which protect everyone - with seatbelt laws - which protect the wearer. But then I realized seatbelt laws actually help way more people than just those who wear them. ...

You know how the US got to be the biggest economy in the world? Trade. You know what Trump is shearing off huge chunks of right now and throwing in the wood chipper? Trade. To paraphrase an old joke, how do you create a small fortune? A: Start with a large one and re-elect Trump.

FAFO: Tariff Edition. When you mistakenly assume everyone else needs you more than you need them.

Well, I guess today isn't all bad.

Most presidents would struggle to destroy the national economy, let alone doing so in just a couple of weeks. But Trump has been able to do that all while playing tons of golf AND watching dozens of hours of Fox News. Impressive.

It's really bad that our president actually does work for Russia and not the US.

It’s #NationalLibraryWeek, so continuing to share this piece where librarians spoke about the impact of threats to library resources—and how the services, programming, and support libraries provide to communities is essential. I hope you’ll read what they shared:

Reckless cruelty isn’t strength. Capitulation isn’t courage. Cultish allegiance isn’t patriotism. We used to know the difference.

And @scalzi.com's latest book sitting on the New Fiction Bestsellers display at Joseph-Beth Booksellers here in Cincy reminded me it sure would be nice if they added him to their impressively busy visiting authors list for a signing and/or a chat.

Unsaid subtext: All Republican administrations. If Americans have an ounce of sense, we will dismiss forever the objectively false notions that (a) Republicans are better for the economy, and (b) it's smart to run the government like a business.
