"As usual, Trump is playing his victor-as-victim card. We’re used to hearing protectionist cries from smaller countries protesting America’s cinematic hegemony – not the other way around," writes film critic and author Tom Shone.

If members of the WH Press Corp don’t ask this question RELENTLESSLY they should turn in their badges.

Re Trump's shake down of CBS/'60 Minutes': @kenmartin.bsky.social should sue Fox News/Harris Faulkner for secretly packing Trump's Oct. women's forum with a Repub women's group. Sen. Bernie Sanders urged CBS News parent company Paramount not to settle the $20 billion lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump. In a letter to Paramount’s lead shareholder, Shari Redstone, Sanders argued that settling would be “a grave mistake.” wapo.st/4k9pK9H

Forever is a take on Judy Blume that is a new must-watch coming of age series. It's just really phenomenal. My review 👇🏾👇🏾

wait, what??

Generative AI and social media tell users what they want to hear, Mike Caulfield writes. That's a problem, but a shift in thinking could fix it.

CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD is like— and I say this in the most complimentary way imaginable —if Nickelodeon made an R-rated horror movie. My review: rendyreviews.com/movie-review...

Another Trump favor from Bob Iger? Disney inked a deal to carry the right-wing and conspiratorial channel Newsmax on its Hulu+Live TV service, per an SEC filing. Plus much more in tonight’s @status.news www.status.news/p/wall-stree...

Good TV as they say:

Time to press the IRS & FCC to pull the plug on grifty megachurches & televangelists' tax exempt status—and yank any related station's broadcast license. Paula White, Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar & Benny Hinn, etc., need more of this kind of heat: www.christianpost.com/voices/paula...

"...the women who have been manipulated, gaslighted, and traumatized by Joe finally emerge out of their fog...." @gloriaalamrew.bsky.social, for hishelli.net, offers a sharp take on "You," sociopath Joe, and our final days with them. Story: www.hishelli.net/p/the-smothe...

Another Simple Favor is goofier and way more over-the-top than the first movie, to its detriment, but still an entertaining, glossy comedy centering two codependent female characters who are at this point equally unhinged. And, once again, Emily Nelson is styled to the nines. Now on Prime Video.

Another Simple Favor, the straight-to-Prime sequel to the 2018 hit thriller, trades the irreverent black humor of the original for a tone that's even darker &, at times, too morally queasy for the viewer to stomach. The costumes still go hard though. My twists-&-all review: slate.com/culture/2025...

A month ago the White House launched its attack on public libraries & museums. To understand what's at stake, please watch “Free for All” on @pbs.org's Independent Lens @10. So impressed by @donie.bsky.social for crafting a unified theory of his reporting on fringe beliefs and for being bold enough to weave his own personal story into the new podcast "Persuadable" from @cnn.com: apple.co/4jTNVIX

I didn't care for Babygirl at all, but this piece by @angelicabastien.bsky.social is fantastic -- giving the film context within the history of women's pictures and the current portrayals of female sexuality on screen.

Though Season 2 of HBO’s “The Last of Us” gives its characters’ individual dynamics more room to breathe, it ends up feeling smaller than its predecessor over all, @inkookang.bsky.social writes. Read her review.

Throughly enjoyed THE UGLY STEPSISTER! A grim dark reimagining of CINDERELLA that adds some pretty great body horror elements and tragedy into the mix amid the chaos. Reminded me a *lot* of Andy Warhol’s DRACULA/FRANKENSTEIN. A good time! Go see it now in theaters!

I'm so honored to be invited to join @oaffc.bsky.social! Championing other women is deeply important to me as a female critic in a male dominated field. 60 Minutes boss Bill Owens resigns: "Over the past months, it has also become clear that I would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it. To make independent decisions based on what was right for 60 Minutes, right for the audience."
