Buck Rogers 1929

Maine needs to do more to stop hazing in high school sports. My column: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/05/m...

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Billy Parker's basement would have been one of my "secret spots" for comics shopping. I've been buying stuff from him at shows for years.

I love the the time of year when you can spend the whole day organizing in the attic without freezing or melting.

Portland, Maine today

Gov. Janet Mills didn’t hold back Monday. “Even a fifth grade civics student” knows the president can’t create laws through social media posts or executive orders, Mills said. “He’s not allowed to do that.”

Anything to make more public land available in South Portland is welcome.

My main computer is in the shop. While I wait for it, I pulled the old one out of the attic after two years. I had to replace the Twitter, Mastadon, and Post.news links off the bookmarks bar in my browser and replace them with BlueSky and Reddit. Welcome to 2025.

Met some of my former @pressherald.bsky.social colleagues ( @stevecraignh.bsky.social , @tlazarczyk.bsky.social & @chadgilley.bsky.social ) at a big comic book show in NH today! What a blast! Came away with a big haul, including sone special autographs!

My primary home computer is in the shop for repair, so I dug out the one I replaced it with from two years ago. After updating for a day, I had to replace the Post.news, Twitter and Mastadon links in the Chrome bookmarks bar. A small trip back in time.

Seventeen days until the clocks change back. 24 days until the first F1 race of the season. 44 days until the Little Giant Comic Book Show in New Hampshire. The future looks bright.

Talking about early space opera at #boskone. A great way to spend the weekend.

Overnight at @pressherald.bsky.social we saw the biggest single-day jump in BlueSky followers since right after the election. I'm not sure why? more Twitter refugees?

Watching the conclusion of the new Star War, Skeleton Crew, I had an echo of the feeling I had at the end of the original Star War when I watched in '77. Recommended.

Somehow I ducked the cameras in the office when they were filming this. youtu.be/2iHI3cjsKMU?...

The Beat’s 50 Best Comics of 2024 This year's Best Comics of 2024 list contains a staggering 50 titles, making it the largest year-end comics list that we here at The Beat have published since all the way back in 2020. This perhaps speaks to how strong a year 2024 was for new comics and graphic…

I'm super-happy for my friend, Rick Parker, to see his book on the @comicsbeat.bsky.social 50 Best Comics of 2024. Well deserved. It's an extraordinary work.

I'll be honest, the comicbookroundup.com score makes me far more interested in a 9.0 book than a CGC Grade.

Today’s beach therapy comes from Ferry Beach, Scarborough, Maine.

Unfortunately, even Buck Rogers couldn't save the Eliza Ann. 1960 George Tuska art #comics #buckrogers

Last week’s dollar bin discoveries.

Something I made. Occasionally, when I need a voice-over, all those years on the radio come in useful.

This was a pretty good hero cross-over. Charles does some crazy sh*t

Awwww. Thanks!

I've been kicking around BlueSky for a while, so I've followed a lot of people. go.bsky.app/RfRcKS6

All these new followers, I hope my stream of comics, Science Fiction, and car racing stuff is of interest. Meanwhile, I made a starter pack of folks who make, sell and read comics. go.bsky.app/PtHtsVG

I find myself wondering these days if BlueSky's surge is an acceleration of the development of partisan media bubbles, or a community immune response.

For the last year, the @pressherald.bsky.social BlueSky has been just me. Time for the pros to take over.
