Gundam is a fascinating franchise because on the one hand the stories it tells are often very dark and generally lead to much of the cast dying but on the other hand it’s built to sell toys. It’s wild to experience realistic death screams and then be pitched a new, toyetic robot in the next scene.

When Shaq played for a season here in Cleveland, I was working at a Brookstone in the mall when he visited. I greeted Shaq and acted as a bodyguard so he could take a 10 minute sleep in one of our massaging chairs. Of course it was the one day I didn't keep my DVD copy of Kazaam on me.
