I'm never going to be able to eat Dim Sum again without thinking of this show.

Short mystery/intrigue stories in a fantasy setting, with a low-stakes puzzle or problem to be solved.
Lois McMaster Bujold's Penric & Desdemona novellas being the archetypal example.

Derek the menswear guy (@dieworkwear.bsky.social) pointed out that the T-shirt evolved from the Union Suit, which itself originated as a women's undergarment. I don't know if that counts?

It's annoying that Static Shock (& The Zeta Project) is one of the only DC Animated series not yet released on blu ray.
The only others I can think of being Justice League Action, and both versions of DC Super Hero Girls. Oh, and Teen Titans Go! (besides season 1).

I see a lot of authors talk about running searches for crutch words, & trying to get the count down out of the hundreds. π
I imagine there's also a lot of agonising over commas.
But that's nitty-gritty stuff, you're probably also looking at pacing & structure, and are there any leaps of illogic.

Thanks! That doesn't look familiar, and my phone still lasts me through the day so hopefully all is well...

Yep, I think they're really leaning into the cosy romantasy element and stating it loudly & proudly.
Makes a nice change in some ways from the era of just putting a tasteful photo of a chalice & some rose petals on the cover. π

I have a 4a and this is the first I've heard about this issue. π¬
Never had any email from Google except for my "Welcome to your new Pixel 4a" back in 2021. Fingers crossed this means my model is unaffected. π€π€·ββοΈ
Got one for my elderly mum too, guess I should check her emails!

Is that Hunt Emerson? He did an irreverent illustrated version of The Rime of The Ancient Mariner that was actually really helpful in understanding the text.

Trying the same made me realise that in all those movie scenes where the hero has to haul themselves up over the edge of a precipice or dangle from a ledge, I would simply just die.

Reminds me of the time Alan Moore was called out in an interview over his claim to be able to do real magic...

We regularly have to make a lot of parents aware that the book has definite adult themes, and isn't intended for a tweenage readership.
But from Mara's post it sounds like a problem that maybe takes care of itself.

If you upload an animated gif as a video it works. π

I only saw this post *after* I already googled and found the book's page on penguinrandomhouse dotcom.
Excited to see the cover reveal!

This was me watching Bugs Bunny cartoons featuring "Yosammity Sam" and reading about "Yosemite National Park", and not connecting the two until years later.
I guess I thought it was pronounced "Yohz-might".

I think on BlueSky, if the quotee blocks the quoter, the QRT stops being visible.
At least that's what I'm assuming, because I don't block a lot of people, but I see quite a lot of blocked negative quote-tweets.

But then again, I don't go around calling The City of Lost Children "La CitΓ© des Enfants Perdus", so I guess there's some inconsistency to my sensibilities.

...and I also learned if you're uploading an animated GIF to BlueSky, you need to upload it as a video rather than an image file.
