My strategy with ice storms storm is to take a hot shower now. An then when the power goes out, use a lantern or candle and take another one before the water in the tank gets cold...and commit to memory that feeling of hot water, that cleanliness so I can hold on to it. 1/2

Well, I think it took me 8 attempts, but I have successfully installed Ubuntu Studio on this 15ish year old laptop, to play around with for some creative stuff. Every Linux installation on old hardware is an adventure, but this one was pretty wierd.

The Nog 6 eggs, separated 3/4 cup sugar (set aside 1/4 cup) 1 qt. half&half 1 cup straight bourbon 2 oz. Jamaican dark rum Beat egg whites until stiff with 1/4 cup sugar. Set aside. Beat egg yolks with 1/2 cup sugar. Mix half&half, bourbon & rum. Fold in egg whites. Pour, top w/grated nutmeg.

I am at a regional driver's licensing office in KY. An obviously impatient man who's been waiting goes up to check his wait time. Is told that there are 4 in front of him. He goes back, loudly explains to the woman waiting with him that this is why we need DOGE to fire all of these people. Genius.

I guess we had better start growing avocados and agave here...oh wait, that shit is not in any way viable in most of the US so I guess it's time to enjoy & say goodbye to somewhat affordable guacamole and agave distillates like tequila and mescal. Have there been any studies to calculate how much energy is being wasted, and how much extra GHGs are being released because of MacOS' shift to screensavers which crank up CPUs, fans on MacBooks like mine? It is asinine that the OS now won't let me choose just a blank screen, something undemanding.
