In believe that there are six core components of spiritual health: • Enthusiasm • Serenity • Community • Agency • Meaning • Purpose

I'd rather have shortsighted critics judge me for what I say than have longsighted historians judge me for what I didn't say.

If somebody's mere existence or presence is considered a crime, that person is not a criminal but a criminalized person.

Some purported Christians say that reporting undocumented immigrants to ICE and refusing them sanctuary is the law-abiding thing to do; they proof-text Romans 13:1-2 to justify their obedience. I remind such people that Judas was similarly abiding by Roman law when he betrayed Jesus.

Father Mulcahy's prescient commentary on armed ICE raids on houses of worship.

The urge to deport non-white immigrants from the United States (including protected-status refugees from countries like Haiti and Venezuela) is a form of ethnic cleansing. Let's stop pretending that it isn't.

American faith is facing crises of desecration and deconsecration. Many members of the clergy no longer feel that it's safe to provide sanctuary in their houses of worship due to threats from both government officials and obsequious, sanctimonious vigilantes.

If Evangelicals had written The Gospel of John:

Yes, I think he did... 🤨

The term [an] "illegal" is racist and nationalist because it's one that's only ever used in reference to non-white people who are suspected of committing the misdemeanor of unlawful entry into the US, not to white people who are proven to have committed felonies like falsifying business records.

You may feel that consecrated spaces are supposed to be neutral zones where you never have to hear about oppressive policies. If you feel this way, you misunderstand sanctuary as something that keeps you safe from reality, not as something that keeps you safe from the forces of oppression.

When cruelty is a matter of policy, any request for mercy is a political statement.

"We charge that there has been corruption in high places, and that examples of dishonesty and dishonor have shamed the moral standards of the American people." ~ The Republican Party's 1952 Platform Trump is the historical depth to which the Republican Party has sunk.

Every religious revolutionary started off as a member of the Moral Minority. Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha- they all rebelled against patently immoral status quos.

The festival gained popularity over the years from within and outside Africa, organizers say, and attracts thousands of locals and foreigners who flock to the Atlantic coast town to experience one of the world’s oldest religions.

I think bad religion should best be understood, in the abstract, as expressions of religion that cause harm, suffering, or trauma, especially through exclusion, discrimination, oppression, shame, or coercion.

Denmark should sell Greenland to Canada just to spite Donald Trump 😄

It seems like CeeLo Green is trying to boost his career the way Kanye West did... by ingratiating himself to MAGA in the wake of Donald Trump becoming President 🙄

Brian Daizen Victoria has been a fearless advocate for #peace and pointing out Buddhist ties to #violence and war around the world. Here he notes that having #Buddhist chaplains in the US military raises important moral issues. www.buddhistdoor.net/features/on-...

For Christmas, my wife gifted me a custom stole- a punk-energy denim stole made by Kit's Karma Creations. 😎

A handful of billionaires now have unprecedented control over banking, the food we eat, the health care we can access and, now, the information we receive. This is what oligarchy looks like.

A reminder about the original meaning of "Sodomite":

The problem is that "finding common ground" with extremists moves you closer to extremity. Committed resistance is what's appropriate.

So much of the so-called culture wars comes down to dominant groups not being satisfied with all they already occupy and control and refusing to leave weirdos alone to exist in their little pockets of weirdo spaces in peace.

Keep calling him President Musk. It will make Trump angry at him.

"Hegseth's deep ideological commitment to extremist Christian nationalism, if put in a position of great power and authority, would pose a serious threat to the right to religious freedom enshrined in the U.S. Constitution," writes our senior director of policy & advocacy, @guthriegf.bsky.social.

I really don't think anyone understands just how bad it is that the world's wealthiest man, who bankrolled the incoming president, is an open neo nazi supporter. He's capable of inflicting so much damage with no means of holding him accountable.

Marsh v. Chambers established the constitutionality of federally funded, pluralist chaplaincy on the grounds of America's "unique history". I don't trust the current Supreme Court not to manufacture some specious, "originalist" excuse to limit this ruling's scope to Christian chaplains.

Pete Hegseth has a fundamentalist, misogynist, Christian Nationalist ideology. I'm not confident that he won't try to fire non-Christian and LGBTQ military and VA chaplains (or, even, female military and VA chaplains) if he becomes the Secretary of Defense.
