Despite ~300 cancellations, average attendance per event was almost identical to last week, meaning yesterday still saw the third-highest turnout ever.

Total attendance in Southern Hemisphere has been >130k every Saturday this year, having never reached that level before. The New Year's Resolutions effect can definitely be seen South of the Equator, while in the Northern Hemisphere it's often tested by the winter weather!

...along with the @parkrunuk.bsky.social record that was one week older, with 200 thousand finishers for the first time ever. 2/2

It beat it by ~8k.
(Yes, Lithuania should be on the chart, but I can't seem to add them without breaking it)

On a personal level, it was my least-engaged year for a decade, with two short-lived injury comebacks and missing almost a third of all parkrundays completely. Hoping for a much better 2025 - Happy New Year to everybody in parkrun world! 4/4

Overall attendance for the year was just short of 16 million finishers, over 2 million more than the previous record year in 2019. 3/4

@parkrunnewzealand.bsky.social had a new national record (9,995) for the second Saturday in a row, their 7th of the year, and were one of 14 parkrun countries to set a new record in 2024. 2/4

Ah, of course, you're right, episode 17 this week was a rematch of episode 4. Episode 18 on Monday should be Al Frescans (e1) v Hopsters (e2).

Now look what you made me go and do!!!
NB I don't know if the semi-finals are actually fixed like this - if so they could throw up 3rd Round rematches (but didn't last year as the last four teams had perfect records)

Yes, Rounds 1 to 4 keep the same four teams together (presumably filmed back-to-back for logistics), so winner R2 v loser R3 is often a R1 rematch. 🙂

Argh, their, not 'their the'. Chopping and changing between platforms to fit various character limits. 😆
