Trump is on the side of Russia. He praised Putin's barbaric invasion of Ukraine in 2022 as "genius" and "savvy". Canadians cannot assume that Trump won't invade our country. If he succeeded, he and Putin could divide the resources under the Arctic. Canada is the ham in the Putin-Trump sandwich.

Great piece by @clarajeffery.bsky.social comparing the burgeoning anti-Tesla/Musk movement with the anti-apartheid movement of the 70s/80s. And not just because of Musk's South African roots. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Robert Reich's articles have provided me with the best insights into what's going on with Musk and Trump. The one below is yet another example. It was wonderful to see @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com invite this great mind onto his program last night.

It used to be a damn good paper: www.theguardian.com/media/2025/f...

The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and incredibly moving. 💙 The @katiephangshow.bsky.social will air until Saturday, April 19th! So until then, if you can, please continue to tune in and watch. I’m always grateful for the privilege of your time.

Katie Phang gave a voice to very significant and underrepresented community in USA. We started a media outlet in Canada, @pancouver.bsky.social, to give a voice to underrepresented artists, including Asian Canadians. I wish Katie the best because she deserved better from MSNBC. @velshi.bsky.social

Peter Navarro (convicted on two counts of Contempt of Congress) wants to kick Canada out of Five Eyes. I wonder why the English, Aussies, and Kiwis would want to keep the U.S. in Five Eyes, given that Trump is a Russian asset and that Putin is an ally of Xi Jinping.

In light of AfD securing only 20.8 percent of the votes in Germany, I wonder if Pierre Poilievre will DM to Elon asking him to hold off on any more endorsements. #cdnpoli

Thanks for being such a smart and well-informed host @katiephang.bsky.social. I hope @msnbc.com comes to its senses and gives you another show in the future. You're a star.

New @pancouver.bsky.social: Author Jason Bell reveals how a Canadian spy cracked Hitler’s secret Holocaust Code and helped defeat the Nazis. He's speaking with UBC professor Peter Klein on Thursday at JCC Jewish Book Festival. pancouver.ca/author-jason...

One reasons why Trump is so hostile to Trudeau is because Trudeau has been such a strong ally of Zelensky and the people of Ukraine. Trump, on the other hand, is beholden to Russia, which was well articulated in Craig Unger's 2018 book, House of Trump, House of Putin. www.amazon.com/House-Trump-...

Donald is projecting again when he calls Justin a "loser" immediately after Team USA lost to Canada's hockey stars. @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com

Glacier Media will close Burnaby Now, Tri-City News & Royal City Record. Glacier's net loss was $6.7 million through first 3 quarters of 2024 on revenues of $108.5 million. Best wishes to employees who have to deal with uncertainty and/or loss of a cherished job. www.burnabynow.com/local-news/b...

From the New York Times: an accounting of the impact of Elon Musk and Donald Trump's decision to shut down USAID.

Poll suggests most Americans dislike Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg.

TV commentators wouldn't bring up Premier Trump in their coverage, nor would the players. But for many Canadians, tonight's win was even sweeter than the 2010 Olympic gold medal in Vancouver. Kudos to @chantalkreviazuk.bsky.social for emphasizing "free". @peterbakernyt.bsky.social @warren.senate.gov

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

A friend says cruelty is the point of Trump policies. It made me think of migrants, civil servants, Ukraine, NATO members, and starving folks deprived of US aid. If cruelty is the point, then media need to focus more attention on sadism. There's cruelty with passion and cruelty without passion. 1/5

Here's something that might interest friends from #Taiwan. @katrinachen.bsky.social @originalsp.in @hedyfry.bsky.social pancouver.ca/trumps-quiet...

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

@velshi.bsky.social @maddow.msnbc.com @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com It looks like Trump might re-elect federal Liberals in Canada. Liberals win more seats with fewer votes than Conservatives because Conservatives sweep Prairies and rural mainland of BC. You could have fun with this.

Wouldn't it be fun if Canadians attending 4 Nations final in Boston booed the U.S. national anthem in TD Garden in Boston on Thurs.? Imagine if Bostonians who oppose the monarch's attempt to take over our country joined Canadian fans with boos in solidarity against Trumpism. It would send a message.

The Washington Post, which is owned by Jeff Bezos, refused to run this advertisement by Common Cause. Meanwhile, Elon Musk has tweeted that staff at 60 Minutes should be jailed and that USAID is a "criminal organization". In other news, Sheryl Crow sold her Tesla and donated funds to NPR.

How long will it be before Trump declares martial law?

I wrote an article today about Snuneymuxw artist Eliot White-Hill, Kwulasultun. He seems to have inherited the passion and intellect of his forebears, who have distinguished themselves as educators, advocates, and knowledge keepers. pancouver.ca/snuneymuxw-a...

Today's produce purchases: Moroccan oranges, South African grapes, Mexican blackberries, and Canadian apples. It's my personal response to Trump tariffs.

Here's what it will be like working with the bully in the White House: constant anxiety about saying the wrong thing, keeping information from the boss to prevent explosions, and going home and complaining to family about how much flattery he requires to deflect sadism. And lots of staff turnover.

Small work of a “fire rainbow”. Only seen if the ice crystals are the right size and shape and with the sun at the right angle. Saw one once. Religious experience. #embroidery #handembroidery #firerainbow #madeinbc #madeinyvr

Thanks to @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com for zeroing in on USAID. It's mind-boggling and infuriating that the richest man in the world cut food supplies to the poorest people in the world who are starving. How can anyone in their right mind buy a Tesla after this?

I am at Green College at UBC waiting to hear Ruan Guang-min and Biz Nijdan discuss graphic novels. The moderator is Canada Research Chair Helena Wu.

The Christian nationalist bots are out of control on Instagram.

I recommend @maddow.msnbc.com nowadays if you've drifted away in recent years. Last night, she broadcast demonstrations outside Tesla dealerships in U.S. cities. It reminds me of the demonstrations outside Trump-branded hotels during Trump 1.0. She also showed military families protesting Hegseth!
