The ultimate sign the welfare reform bill is in chaos: I’m on the mini rolls and painkillers.

It’s been quite galling seeing pro welfare cut MPs talk about PIP as an out of work benefit, which it is not! It’s not means tested. They just don’t know what they’re talking about, at all.

Advice: don't read the public comments on the pieces on the BBC News website about the #DisabilityBenefits , there are some truly vile ableists there.

@kimleadbeatermp.bsky.social I sent my email on Friday am, it's the end of Tuesday and the bill vote is next week. If I could hear from you that you plan to join 108 of your colleagues in protecting disabled people from harm, poverty and suicide, that would give me hope.

Using the “millionaires leave Britain” thing as an argument against taxing them is essentially “let the rich fleece our country or they’ll go fleece someone else”. Remarkably, this argument seems to be gaining traction.

We have deep concerns about government plans to designate Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. Nonviolent protest, and even acts of vandalism, should not be labelled as terrorism. Civil disobedience has been a powerful force for positive social change. www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Just 30% of Brits still see the US as a friend to the UK and Europe. The lowest number yet recorded. Only 11% want a closer relationship with the US, compared to 42% who now want a closer relationship with Europe

BREAKING: I’m hearing that despite Liz Kendall and other cabinet ministers being locked in talks trying to convince welfare rebels not to vote down the bill the number of Labour MPs planning to do so has actually gone up to 127 👏

Close to having a panic attack about this fellowship outcome and Tom wants to me to fill in a long form to change mobile provider, argh!

Just emailed my MP to offer my support, he has taken a stand against the proposed draconian benefits cuts this government wants to force through. He’s doing a good job for the constituency and I was really pleased that he’s on the side of the people. Glad I voted for him.

I felt fine when I woke up but as the day goes on I’m feeling more low and anxious waiting for this email about the fellowship. It’s really starting to affect me. Five weeks is too long for a decision

An important study on the use of oxevision in psychiatric hospitals. If you have ever accessed any mental health services, please take and share! app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/teesside/p...

I am old enough to recall as far back as 2018 when Cooper sported a suffragette rosette. A reminder that the suffragettes, unlike Palestine Action, actually planted bombs and destroyed property.

No real Labour government would remove or undermine the hard won rights and benefits that previous generations of working class people fought for and won This is no real Labour government.

What I want is a TV documentary channel entirely devoted to documentaries with no quick-cut montages of everything about to happen, which don't give a fuck about keeping my attention, presented by extremely knowledgeable people in a terrible mood who have no interest in trying to make me like them.

Cat is loafing on my chest 🥰

Good morning, despite napping after work yesterday I had a lovely sleep. Today I’m participating in a colleague’s focus group, she was low on numbers and I fit the criteria so I’m happy to be able to help. Other than that it’s more sending out invitations for research interviews and more coding!

BREAKING - I understand a large number of MPs - potentially 80+ and including select committee chair are signing a reasoned amendment to the welfare bill which declines to give it a second reading

At least 1.2 million will have their PIP removed, the DWP minister admits himself.

We should all be concerned about plans to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group. Targeting non-violent protesters in this way is a misuse of terrorism-related powers. It sets a dangerous precedent, which governments in future could further use against their critics.
