Fascinating world of ancient #glass: This #Roman flask in the form of a fish was found in Cologne, 3rd c. AD. We don't know what is was used for, maybe the shape relates to the content (fish sauce), maybe it was used to hold oil. 📷 me 🏺 AncientBluesky #archaeology

Hey. America. Remember what you lads did in 1776? It inspired so many revolutions. You can do it again you know...no kings

A stunnning miniature portrait of the #Roman empress Agrippina Minor (15-59 AD), made from chalcedony. Agrippina was the mother of Nero, and married to her uncle, emperor Claudius. It was rumoured that she poisoned her husband with a dish of mushrooms. On display at British Museum 📷me 🏺

I’ve been on a cutesy binge since before Valentine’s Day, so I’ve been doing art tags, using my favorite paper collections from a company called Graphic 45.

A tiny #Egyptian #frog amulet, made of carnelian (height 0.9 cm). Because of their numerous offspring, #frogs were considered a symbol of fertility. Dating c. 1540-1296 BC, New Kingdom. Photo: Cleveland Museum of Art 🏺 AncientEgyptBluesky

Here’s my assistant soaking up some sun!

Here’s another tag - Theme is Cozy at Home.

Made this tag for a challenge. Some collage, mixed media and air dry clay roses.

A cheek-piece from a #Roman helmet, beautifully worked with an image of the winged goddess Victory holding a battlefield trophy, made from the arms & armour of the defeated enemy. As this is high-quality work, the helmet it was originally part of probably belonged to an officer 🏺AncientBlueSky

Christmas collage in tag form. It’s a big tag 6x5”. Collage is vintage, which I love doing.

This copper alloy arm purse found in the #Roman settlement of Nida (Frankfurt-Heddernheim) was used as a secure method to carry coins. To spend the money, the purse had to be removed from the arm. On display at Archäologisches Museum Frankfurt 🏺 AncientBluesky #archaeology
