Thank you to @tojothethief.bsky.social for the wonderful gift of a proper era and JDM stereo for the Insight. I really miss this era of creative design, also Minidiscs.

Can't help but think the all plastic cup and thicker sippy cup type lid has more waste plastic than the older lined paper cups, thinner lids, and plastic straws

There are some big, BIG things stirring here in Wizzyland right now. Truly a once in a lifetime donation to the museum. More to come...

Bandcamp lets us keep 85% of revenue. That is the best rate of anybody out there. Over a period of about 15 years, I have taken home ~$3000. Every album is "pay what you want", so you all rock. If you bought an album for $5 then you gave me more than streaming the whole album ~300 times.

I want cis people that claim to be our allies to take lessons from the Sikhs. Most Sikhs when they are the targets of islamophobia don't jump to correct people and say "no! I'm not a muslim!" They instead loudly denounce islamophobia.

Cute otter

Do you think students taking a final exam would do better or worse if in a silent room or one where the professor yells relentlessly "Come on! Gotta get it done! We only have limited time! What's taking so long?! Let's move it! Are you done yet? Hurry up!" Same is true for working environments.

I'm working on one of the final revisions of book 1 of the Sentients novel (based upon my last album release). I'm curious how to promote it as I'm not an experienced author. What would you prefer to see? - selected chapters posted - excerpts - short stories based from the story - other ideas?

Oh thank god, for the same reasons the new stuff: github.com/mk6i/retro-a...

Bambu's firmware shenanigans are making me rethink ever recommending one again. They have to backtrack on it, or lose the goodwill of the 3DP community that is "open source but willing to give on value sometimes", which is not an insignificant sector.

I have before me 2 DEC AlphaStation 200 4/233 systems. I’m told one works and one does not. I believe they have OpenVMS installed on them and that they were running some high-availability application (I also have the shared external disk enclosure).

I will also say it sucks being cursed with pattern recognition and like, knowing how this story ends if the blowback isn’t fast and fierce, and yet people say “I don’t get it, why’s this so bad?” In a year or so when Bambu has gone full HP you’ll understand why it was so bad.

An important part of understanding early hacker movies and culture – yes it was that easy. You call a number and you were on the mainframe. You sniff WiFi and you get their password. You type the right URL with # and you see all their pictures. Today is downstream a world utterly without defenses.

*electrification* itself was only 40 years old when these towers were built.

Recently picked up this NOS 70's car computer for giggles. It's surprisingly advanced! The copy is really fun and the box shape is well thought out for point of sale displays.

Much more appropriate wallpaper for the SPARCStation IPX. Getting the symmetry right for tiling was a bit of a pain in `bitmap`. Took a couple of attempts, and originally went for the original non-angled sun logo.
