😳😮😲. As the Joe Turns

Walz announces that Rep. Melissa Hortman is dead as a result of a "politically motivated assassination"

Jessica Tarlov: “How can you actually sit here in comforts of our air conditioned studio or in your big nice house and be comfortable knowing that there are people not convicted of anything left to rot in a foreign prison?” Gutfeld: “He has been convicted.” Tarlov: “He has not.”

Going to need a Big Beautiful Bucket of popcorn for this ugly brawl.

Gonna say something obvious to most: real masculinity defends the defenseless, punches up not down, has compassion, and fights only on behalf of others to battle injustice or evil. It doesn’t just lift weights and tweet in all caps and listen to Rogan and grow a beard to feel accepted by other men

PRO PUBLICA: Of the 238 men sent to an El Salvador mega prison, only 6 had prior violent crime convictions. 0 were on the gang member list. 130 had no criminal history. 32 had minor offenses. All 238 thought they were being sent back to Venezuela. www.instagram.com/p/DKcjM7FPhz...

Scoop: CBS News pulled a "60 Minutes" segment that focused on job losses at the Internal Revenue Service hours before it was scheduled to air, replacing it with a feature story on Cajun music. Story: www.msn.com/en-us/news/o...

Rand Paul on the reconciliation bill: "The problem is it's asking conservatives like myself to raise the debt ceiling $5 trillion. That's historic. Nobody has ever raised the debt ceiling that much ... where are the cuts? If the cuts are real why are we gonna borrow $5 trillion?"

GOLDMAN: Will you give Abrego Garcia the due process the Supreme Court has required you to give him? NOEM: If he were to come back to this country, he would be immediately removed again G: How do you know? The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he hasn't been treated appropriately

No one gives someone a $400 million dollar jet for free without expecting anything in return. Be serious.

Of course he did. The desire to reduce gun violence is the ultimate pro life position.

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented. His argument fails even on its own terms.

Judge restricts Border Patrol in California: ‘You just can’t walk up to people with brown skin and say give me your papers” W/ @wendyfry.bsky.social calmatters.org/justice/2025...

MORAN: Even some people who voted for you are saying, 'I didn't sign up for this.' So how do you answer those concerns? TRUMP: Well, they did sign up for it actually

We'd love to look at his hand! Bring him back to the States and we'll take a look ☺️

This exchange is so very telling. Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this: "I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed... Just say yes!"

Incidentally, this is why I worry about the dominant position of AI critics on this site that "AI doesn't work and is just a scam" It absolutely does work, in good ways (controlled studies on education, medicine) and in ways that create risks & problems. Pretending AI isn't real is a big mistake.

I wish American business leaders were as wise as China’s foreign ministry.

20 ARMED men bust into your home. They claim they’ve got a search warrant. They make you stand in the rain w/your 3 daughters in their underwear. They seize your phones, laptops, your cash life savings. The suspects listed on the warrant? They don’t live there anymore. kfor.com/news/local/w...

TRUMP: He had MS-13 on his knuckles, tattooed! MORAN: That was photoshopped TRUMP: Terry, they're giving you the big break of a lifetime. I picked you. But you're not being very nice. (Can't post the clip here because of @bsky.app's daily video limit but the text tells you what you need to know)

While you highlight it, please note is the product of local journalism, which has been carrying a lot of the burden in an environment where national outlets simply can't cover everything everywhere all at once. Support your local journalists!

Conservative superlawyer Paul Clement joins yet another case challenging the Trump administration. This time he's representing Judge Hannah Dugan, who was was arrested after the FBI said she tried to shield an illegal immigrant from arrest. www.jsonline.com/story/news/l...

Take a minute from your day and read this chilling story about how quickly we've gotten to where we are.

Let’s fucking go???

It's an artisanal recession

You can’t say criminals don’t deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.

The idea that Americans will be more tolerant of hardships caused by a trade war than the Chinese is contradicted by all of the meltdowns around COVID restrictions and mild inflation under Biden. We the people, can’t handle hard times.

At this juncture I’d like to point out: * we’re on the brink of a golden age of medical healing * there’s enough money in the world to solve every problem in the world * a united approach could stop the climate crisis But a small group of sociopaths seeking personal power are going to throw it away.

Shocking epiphany this morning: trying to wake up, listening to the news, and realizing that it’s easier to believe what China says rather than our own president. BROKE MY HEART 💔

When Fox smears Abrego Garcia as MS-13 while citing a murder committed by a different migrant, they're only making the case for giving him due process stronger. The whole point of due process is to determine who is guilty of such crimes and who isn't! New piece: newrepublic.com/article/1942...

One of the most shocking things I have read for a while: t.co/lg46ijHLDF

You guys are being so mean to Kristi Noem, but sometimes you have to pay for Dalmatian puppies in cash.

So much of the lawlessness we are seeing now is occurring because the officials involved a) know they can be pardoned by b) a President with SCOTUS-granted immunity. They might prattle on about accountability, but they are bound to him for protection as they break the law.

Tesla is also dying in China. One can only imagine how many of their "sales" there are fake registrations by its sales staff.

Cowardice is what makes collective action by Big Law nearly impossible. If your friend is staying at Skadden, he is familiar with what it feels like to be a coward.

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

Oh man! He said, she said! If only there was a way where each side could present their evidence and a neutral 3rd party could make a judgment call...

"We did not make a mistake" -- Leavitt on a deportation that the administration has admitted was a mistake

18/19 yo Euro backpackers were detained in Honolulu. “It was a real jail. Metal doors, locked cells, cold air. And they made us do a full strip search. It was really cold. We had to undress completely, including bra and underwear, and even had to squat and spread… it was humiliating and scary.“
