This is why you should subscribe to my newsletter. I don't step out of my lane. It's just Congress, the nuances of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, and opinions about what pants I think are cool/not cool. www.thebulwark.com/s/presspass

Had my first "the wedding planner and all the vendors forgot it's my wedding" dream last night so things are going well and should be a smooth remaining couple of months until the big day

Allegory alert!

DEI: diversity, equity, and Italian

GOP lawmakers are sending letters to constituents expressing concern over Elon’s activities. Public comments? That’s another story w/ @samsteindc.bsky.social www.thebulwark.com/p/the-gop-sa...

Guys will buy suits this small (look at the sleeves, button placement, overall length) thinking it will make them look taller or slimmer but the result just makes them look like they haven't bought a new jacket since before hitting their final growth spurt

The halftime show also made clear a lot of the people who keep insisting that being a conservative is now “cool” have no grasp on the country’s most popular music of the year. Predictable but funny to see unfold in real time.

Gonna start posting a Friday thread of a few things I think are cool that you should buy if you want/can. 🧵 (1/6)

While it's a general rule to not use "countless" when describing things that could indeed be counted, now matter how monumental the task, I think if one was describing the amount of times a GOP-led House was at risk of a government shutdown, it really would be countless www.notus.org/congress/clo...

Instead of paying for snack food at the office, why not take the lowest performing 10% of the workforce and turn them into nutrient-rich food for their colleagues?

Grew up in San Francisco, so can’t relate to this piece at all. It’s still great. It would occasionally snow on the top of Mt. Tamalpais though and we would drive up and pull each other on boogie boards with my truck. Miraculously didn’t die lol. www.thebulwark.com/p/in-defense...

'Law and order' means watering down FARA enforcement? www.thebulwark.com/p/pam-bondi-...

Words cannot possibly describe how much I love the Senate basement

Me when I notice someone hasn’t removed the thread stitch from the vent of their coat

Gotta say I can’t stand this column. The defense of American soft power isn’t a political issue (it could have political consequences, as all things can). But this is first and foremost a moral, ethical, and *legal* matter. What’s the alternative? Just let it happen?

Need some reader feedback: would folks like it if I started writing the whole newsletter in Italian and then relocate to Faggeto Lario?

This implies that what Elon is doing is legal until legislation is passed. Terrible messaging.

You know that scene in Gladiator II when Caracalla makes his pet monkey consul of Rome and all the senators go along with it and cheer? That's how this week has felt www.thebulwark.com/p/musks-usai...

Had quite the exchange w/ Chuck Grassley moments ago. Asked if closing USAID is legal, which he said he doesn't know because "that's kind of a constitutional question" I then noted he's judiciary chairman, so he said of executive authority, "I can't define that for you"

I think more publications should have good merch beyond tote bags. Like, I would kill for a denim Sacramento Bee bucket hat.
