The US economy has evolved past low paying manufacturing jobs. Most of the population has moved toward higher paying service, tech, engineering and development roles. Who the fuck wants to discard a professional career to assemble phones? Where is the research saying these jobs are needed?

Found a dead 400lb harbor seal on our beach yesterday bleeding from its nose. It quite possibly died from bird flu. We put in a call to NOAA to initiate some kind of response. It's anyone's guess if this is still something they help with. If it is bird flu, it's a major health hazard.
