State getting decimated. Pentagon in chaos. What's happening in America doesn't stay in America. The results will not be more 'restraint' or 'efficiency' but more threats to the security and well-being of all.

#ICYMI: Last Weds, the Trump Admin ordered an immediate halt to construction on Empire Wind 1, the fully funded, fully permitted 810-megawatt offshore wind farm that was expected to power approximately 500,000 New York homes by 2027.

We’re suing the Department of Justice for failing to release public records on Acting U.S. Attorney Ed Martin. Here's what you need to know ⬇️

I like this thread because it lays out a lot of tasks we ask of our military beyond warfighting. Really, Hegseth's warfighter chant is trying to operationalize the "military kills people and breaks things" chant of the segregationists in 1948 & the bigots of the 90s in DADT, seasoned w/ GWOT anger.

Give (Black) America Hookworm Again!

"Warfighting on our minds every single day." It is true that one purpose of the military is to fight wars, kinetically, as they say. But there are other aspects, including the deterrence effect of having this military and the ability to respond to emergencies. 1/4

BREAKING: The Food and Drug Administration is suspending a quality control program for testing milk and other dairy products. The agency is citing reduced capacity. It has 20,000 fewer employees as a result of the DOGE cuts under Trump and Musk.

Your occasional reminder that executive orders are not laws, and the Republican members of Congress could stop this carnage today.

Today in 1968, the Treaty for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean—commonly known as the Treaty of Tlatelolco, which opened for signature in Mexico City on February 14, 1967—entered into force.

The thing is, Executive Orders are the vaporware of governance. They’re the equivalent of Microsoft Windows notifications telling you what Windows thinks you want to happen, but that you don’t actually want, and which is wasting your time, if not actually going to cause the system to freeze/crash.

President Trump's tariffs will likely deal a heavy blow to economies worldwide, with US prosperity hit particularly hard, IMF warns. Follow live updates:

Russia isn't attacking civilian infrastructure and we are willing to discuss stopping it.

Good morning.

ICYMI:

Walked past this flowering chestnut tree my uncle planted at my parents' from an acorn 40 years ago and it was BUZZING as loud as a small generator. Took a closer look and there were dozens of bumble bees at eye-level, probably a couple of hundred in the tree altogether. Happy Spring!

At 08:10 EDT I'm in studio with Rasheeda Kabba on Local News Live (115 stations across the US) to discuss the silencing of the Voice of America. Livestream: https://www.localnewslive.com/livestream/ #SaveVOA

Putin announced the end of the Easter truce on April 21 and rejected Zelensky's proposed temporary moratorium on long-range strikes against civilian infrastructure while speaking to journalists, stating that Russia would need to "sort out" the proposed civilian infrastructure strikes moratorium.

Resistance is complex. Every person has power to resist, but we all have different leverages, affordances, and capacities. So what can you do to resist *effectively* when you aren't an influential politician or official able to challenge The Top Levels? Short answer: promiscuous vengefulness! 1/4

Washington just took the reasonable step of not allowing the National Guard of other states to operate here without our agreement. It’s not the Guard personnel we are concerned about, it’s other governors in the Trump cult. katu.com/news/local/g...

this has been a common theme with this administration in every negotiation, not just trade negotiations; they can't articulate what they want, they constantly move the goalposts, they're unreliable and unprofessional. it will have a lot of negative consequences, both for them and for us.

Hey New Mexico neighbors. I am registered for Senator Lujan's town hall tomorrow in Santa Fe. Do you have questions for him? Drop them here. cc @cherylrofer.bsky.social @caitesq.bsky.social @sherileevs.bsky.social

again, republicans could stop this at any time. seize trump's tariff power. impeach him. he's obviously unfit and is violating the constitution left and right.

So glad that members are going down to El Salvador to personally investigate what our government has been doing to over 250 men we’ve sent to be imprisoned for no crime without any trials.

This is a great resource! Chemsky

Reality tv show, "What the Hell-ebrity Apprentice": every top Trump appointee competes to do something so incandescently, staggeringly, theatrically incompetent/corrupt that Trump says 'You're fired'. Meanwhile, all the R's in Congress divide into teams to cheerlead for their favourite players.
