Some good stuff in SNL 50. Like Eddie Murphy. The Mulaney song. Tina & Amy. Unabashed nostalgia. Also of course a lot of bloat. It wouldn’t be a SNL without some bloat. Surprised some key players didn’t get a shout out. Nevertheless, it looked mahvelous to see some old friends again.

This place has gotten super dark and depressing the last two weeks. We all thought we were in The Good Place but maybe it was The Bad Place all along!

The SNL 50 Years of Music doc on Peacock is pretty great. So many great stories and amazing performances. 🤘👍👍🤘

We have Yuengling in Illinois now! I wonder if it will lose its appeal now that I don’t have to travel across 3 states to get it? When I first had Krispy Kremes, we’d drive 45 minutes, inhale some donuts, go home. When one showed up 5 minutes from my house I’m not sure I went more than once.

I probably should just be satisfied that I’m witnessing history here, true greatness by Mahomes and the Chiefs. Unprecedented. But I just wanted to see Buffalo exorcise some demons and bring one home to their long suffering fans. These close losses are a real gut punch.

Took the “Yes, Chef!” tour of Chicago eateries seen on The Bear. Good eats, great time! No forks thrown.

Went to GWAR BAR yesterday in Richmond, Virginia. It was cool. Full of stage props from the band, who is from there and owns the joint. Funny, I always thought they were from Uranus.

Drank “high caffeine” coffee from a gas station on I-80. This was no freeze dried taster’s choice, nor was it serious gourmet shit. It was pure dark matter, black gold, and the handle had the duct tape so you know it was chock full o’greenies. Now I’m walking around with the shakes like Kramer.

I couldn’t be happier about the Ben Johnson hire. Kudos to Poles on pulling it off. I now have hope.

So this Ben Johnson guy is pretty pretty good. I’d take him.

Bob Uecker and David Lynch. Two legends of their domains. Bob I was first introduced to in Major League and all the funny commercials, David via his incredible directing career. #RIP

As someone who’s worked in tech for 25 years and lost good coders because of H1B lotteries, I’m interested in seeing reform in the system. And I’m doubling over in laughter at all the leopard face-eating. But also fuck Elon. So you could say I’m torn on this issue.

Almost impossible to believe but we’re on track for zero wins to close out the season. Seven losses in a row since this post.

Still waiting for the Cubs to spend the money they recouped by moving Bellinger. If they don’t spend it, I’d have rather kept him.

Halftime, Bears suck. Had to hang the antenna on the tree to get a signal, but now I get to watch some sweet Bulls action!

There’s so many great Rickey Henderson stories. I will paraphrase. First off, he always spoke in 3rd person. 1. Talking about “John 3:16” signs, “Rickey don’t want to hear about no John 3:16, Rickey hitting .330!”

Feels like we’re selling at rock bottom BUT if they turn around and buy an elite closer or big-time starter with that money, or even just use it towards a Tucker extension…I’m happy with the move.

Holy crap. He’s incredible but that’s a lot of scratch. Cubs could have paid that, but I’m not sure I’d have gone *that* high.

Bears Defense is Swiss cheese. Offense dysfunctional. Rinse, repeat.

Anybody remember Secret Machines? Kinda prog indie pitchfork darlings in the early 00’s. I had no idea they kept making music. Three albums in last four years. Who knew?

Today would have been Randy Rhoads 68th birthday. Gone too soon. Had to listen to Ozzy’s Tribute album in his honor. He was an incredible guitarist.

This #SpotifyWrapped would make a great @riotfest.bsky.social bill next year. And throw in Amyl & The Sniffers for good measure.

If Shanahan is available, he’s my number one. No question. I’m intrigued by Thomas Brown but he would have to be so overwhelmingly good so as it will even be obvious to the biggest Bears curmudgeon on the planet that he should keep the gig. We’re talking 4-1, with MVP level performance from Caleb.

So nice of the Bucs announcers to name drop the Bears in regards to clock management before the game-tying Field Goal. National embarrassment.
