It's getting harder to find a hardware store with honorable associations and practices. Lowe's isn't much better than HD. And our local Menards is all-in with the GOP. I'd prefer Ace Hardware but it's the same issue. @acehardware.bsky.social @homedepotdeals.bsky.social @menardsofficial.bsky.social

This is a great way to protest all the BS! Here's another way we can protest as consumers. Starve your dollars from red-supporting businesses: www.goodsuniteus.com And there's an app, too! #goodsuniteus @goodsuniteus.bsky.social

3/3 "and making sure any changes are implemented effectively and equitably." Still, seems like the implementation could be worked out after it's made law. Now, it's been rejected and may never get implemented, leaving pedestrians and bicyclists at risk, never mind giving drivers top priority.

2/3 "...yet we were rushing to pass it without fully considering its impact. My vote was not against lowering speed limits but rather in favor of taking the time to ensure we get it right—evaluating all factors, addressing concerns from all sides..."

Just to follow up, in her newsletter came a defense 1/2: "...after speaking with CDOT’s Commissioner, it became clear that additional time was needed to ensure the state, county, and city were aligned on implementation." The goal of this ordinance is to slow drivers down..."

Remember it's just the sad remainder of what's left of the 'T.' Kinda similar to the US government, actually.

I recommend #WBEZ in Chicago. It's Trump's least favorite locale; showing support helps give him the big middle finger he so deserves (besides a view from behind bars).

Great idea.

Although I appreciate the PSA, it's another 'if it's not enforced, people won't do it' situation. When I lived in NYC, people were ticketed for not shoveling their sidewalks. How do you think things looked after a storm? Not like Chicago! It's similar to our car problems. Enforcement is essential!

I will make this my profile pic on Twitter/X when I post a goodbye with no plans to come back. Thanks!

And now the price is really being paid. I am holding out hope the democracy isn't completely destroyed.

My commute is about 10 miles, and other than an epic puncture I got coming home yesterday, has been uneventful since the weather took a turn. Just layer up and all is good. It's "No sweat" literally!

Please do! You appear to get along with few. I had higher hopes here than the BS on Twitter, but there seem to be bad apples creeping in.

Your handle says it all. It is ambiguous and sounds pro-car to me.
comment in response to post
I have read and re-read your initial post several times. It sounds pro-car every time. Do you like the fact that so much of the country is car-dependent? UNCLEAR.

Blame "The Woke" on whatever you want. You'll be in our sights for the next four years.

Glad I'm not the only one. I have given up fighting this one, though, knowing what the system wants.

Focus on Dr. King's birthday... is what I keep telling myself.

Ha, I did that for years. And still do when I'm out in rural areas. My favorite is beeping the horn at someone who's not looking.

Reading through some comments, it seems you are lamenting the fact there are so many holes in public transit. Great! Why not adjust your statement to be more pro-transit rather than sounding pro-car?

Joy on the right seems like an oxymoron. Or just a bunch of morons!

And those who made the mistake of voting for agent orange will come to regret it soon.
comment in response to post
Nothing at all like Nelson Mandela. The only thing in common there was a completely screwed up system of justice. Mandela should never have been jailed. Orange should be behind bars.

Convicted felon. Enough said.

And let the public know where & when.

I hate that so many people are kissing his orange a$$. If he lost, we'd just have to ensure all the BS about election interference but he'd be relatively powerless.

Yeah, look at the username - 4547. I say #8647 That guy should be behind bars, preferably in Mexico.

You could sum up today's culture with that last sentence. How else could we end up with Agent Orange going back to the White House? #8647

I've been preaching this for years, having learned to drive in upstate NY. I'd go to an empty parking lot & drive recklessly to determine how bad the weather would be. It helped immensely. That and slamming on the brakes, also with no one around. Though this was pre-ABS, it's helpful either way.

Sad as it is, this is what I see biking in Chicago daily. Crosswalks feel like an opportunity to play a one-sided game of chicken.

I hope there's discussion about removing congestion pricing for motorcycles. They're the best way to get around NYC and hardly consume any space. To boot, motorcyclists are FAR more tuned in to others on the road than drivers. Increase the fee to $15+ for large personal SUVs & trucks to offset this.

Sure looks like our politics, or at least it will in a few (very sad) weeks.
