Lincoln Square open to the people was so joyous. Don't be discouraged by car brained reactionaries. The street was consistently crowded with children playing/laughing, adults drinking/eating/shopping, and smart buisnesses capitalizing on the crowd.

I think the kids who got to school on these bikes today deserve an explanation from the adults who hung up signs saying it’s ok to park their cars in the bike lanes in front of their school.

Something is wrong with only the doors closing pa system announcement on my CTA train and the operator is making cute sing song "Bing bong doors closing" announcements themselves.

They turned the glass box full of spiders above the Walgreens into housing.

there are two ballparks: fenway and wrigley. everything else is just a dressed-up multipurpose arena

A Chicago Pope implies the existence of an MLA Pope and APA Pope

Need to know what the pope’s plans are to stop smoking on the CTA

Half surprised that Cardinal Prevost is taking the Pope job when I’m sure Brandon would’ve given him the CTA one.

the New Pope says he's from Chicago but he's *actually* from Naperville

I really like that the RIC will retain majority ownership and operate the units long term. Much better than the old model of massive handouts to developers who under deliver. And units that revert back to market rate after some time.

If you're available at 3:30pm on Thursday, and are interested in a transparent, nationwide search for transit leadership, this would be a good time to sign up for public comment.

Honestly NJB is right about trams. I'm tired of pretending that doing busses better will be enough to fix Chicago. Any BRT we build will still be transit along a stroad. Busses are unpleasant to be around as a pedestrian.

I think the water taxi is fun and even should be used more but unless water is a geographic barrier to travel the speeds of boats aren't gonna be competitive with other modes of transit.

"Mayor Johnson is fully within his right as the mayor of Chicago to make decisions as he pleases, but I think if he is going to uphold the values that he stated that he would have as a collaborative mayor, then this process reflects none of that,” Lucas said.

4th ghost bike in this location because drivers keep smashing into them. Maybe time to redesign the intersection?

Statistically it's only a matter of time till another life is lost at this pedestrian island. A rigid barrier is needed. Flexi posts are inadequate.

To the small business owners in Chicago complaining about pedestrians (who make up the majority of their current customer base) I have a very exciting relocation opportunity for you. You'll never run out of parking when your store moves to a suburban strip mall!

Lincoln Square Retailers See steady or Increase In Sales During First Week Of Car-Free Zone, actually data says. Fake news headlines say otherwise.

I love the architecture of Harold Washington Library but running through L though it like proposed in these models would have been so much cooler.

Eyes on the street: Walk/bike/transit advocates turned car-free Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square, pedestrianized for a week during a construction project, into a vibrant public space. chi.streetsblog.org/2025/04/22/e... @mclean.bsky.social @bikelaneuprising.bsky.social @ronythebikeczar.bsky.social

Do you think Lincoln Square should be fully pedestrianized? I do, and I talked to Block Club Chicago about it ⬇️ blockclubchicago.org/2025/04/21/h...

Yes, public transit is still safer than driving. Much safer. www.scientificamerican.com/article/is-p...
