Dems are in such disarray that Rahm Emanuel sees a shot at their 2028 prez nomination — the man Chicagoans tagged as Mayor 1% even before he closed 50 schools and his administration refused to release the video showing a white cop firing 16 shots into Black teen Laquan McDonald.

A contingent of police and city council members suggest the city would save tax dollars by more frequently fighting civil rights lawsuits against CPD to trial. Here’s a new data point for that debate.

A Friday announcement by Cook County top prosecutor Eileen O'Neill Burke went mostly unnoticed. Burke, who stressed law and order to win her office last year, is backing an #Illinois bill to ease up on some first-time gun offenders. Imagine the uproar if her predecessor, Kim Foxx, had proposed it.

The video of this fatal abduction (at the top) and the evidence tying the crime to Maduro (at the end) are nothing short of chilling. Between is an image of Maduro welcoming Trump’s envoy in #Venezuela. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/10/w...

I realize this is kind of useless to say but I heard this on the radio yesterday morning and it made me cry

Wonderful, humanizing journalism by @chipmitchell1.bsky.social and @wbez.org. Was commuting into work when I heard this and it really hit home how this upcoming MAGA mass deportation is the loss of our friends and neighbors.

This version includes the audio story. Tap "Listen." www.wbez.org/immigration/...

The faces of Chicagoans who fear what’s coming next week. Great read from WBEZ’s @chipmitchell1.bsky.social .

Absolutely stunning, heartbreaking story

I met some #immigrant parents in #Chicago who are #undocumented but their baby is a U.S. citizen. As #Trump returns to office, their main fear about his promised mass #deportation is separation from the boy. Full story at @wbez.org. www.wbez.org/immigration/...
