these raids are not about actually finding people to deport (that is secondary) but rather that are to terrorize any space where immigrants & brown folks of all citizenship statuses find joy. ICE wants to disrupt community every way it can; whether through family separation or raids of clubs

The last time ICE raided a nightclub in Colorado, ZERO people who were arrested ended up being eligible for deportation amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/04/...

Last week the Trump administration fired another 8 immigration judges. One judge was fired in the middle of an asylum hearing and had to walk off the bench before the hearing was over! There are now nearly 50 FEWER immigration judges than when Trump took office!

I’ll always remember going to a talk about how economics people sexist and telling the author after that it was hard not to get angry during the talk, which felt like something I wasn’t supposed to say

Reflecting on how economists are bad at recognizing our humanity as scientists and the humanity of those we study Went to a talk by non economists last week that put this in stark relief Will make a point to ask people how it makes them feel to do the research they do, especially on hard subjects

New filing in NTEU v Vought has *19* declarations from both names and pseudonymous CFPB staff, detailing how Trump admin is still trying to delete the CFPB: www.courtlistener.com/docket/69624...

HORRIFYING www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

I'm so mad on behalf of the students, staff and faculty traumatized by this, and who still feel uncertain about their futures, which, by the way, is intentional by the Trump admin. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Student visas being "arbitrarily" re-established really highlights how arbitrarily they were revoked too. www.dailycal.org/news/campus/...

This movie provides a great history of one episode of modern colonialism in Africa. Highly recommend.

@laurenhlb.bsky.social and @chloeneast.bsky.social review the literature on SNAP work requirements and find that they “do not encourage work but do reduce program access.” Learn more in this primer: www.brookings.edu/articles/a-p...

PLEASE don’t buy into Amazon’s booksale this week. They are intentionally trying to eat into profits from Indie Bookstore Day this weekend, a really important annual event for our important community institutions. Check out your local fave or bookshop.org.

yes, 2 issues here. One is that ICE has no way of knowing if you're an illegal immigrant without a full trial. Literally impossible to know. The other is that what they're calling "deportation" is actually a Hitlerian policy of ethnic cleansing through concentration camps bsky.app/profile/chri...

Breaking: a judge in GA ordered that the fed'l gov't CANNOT pull the visas of foreign students. The order applies ONLY to students who are part of the lawsuit. If you want to join the lawsuit, reach out to: [email protected] and [email protected] youtu.be/FS6B8CM8uf4

Happy earth day! The free market will always destroy the earth and we will always have the free market as long as money is in politics.

A dozen states have trigger laws that would automatically end Medicaid eligibility for various groups if federal support is cut. www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...

The math here is simple. Republicans have passed a budget framework where very large cuts to Medicaid will have to occur. Now, they are preemptively shifting the blame for those cuts to Governors, who cannot engage in deficit spending. All of this is for a regressive tax cut.

This is how you do it.

Due to Ohio SB1 the University of Toledo is eliminating majors in Disability Studies, Women’s & Gender Studies, Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Middle East Studies & more. Toledo was one of few places where undergrads could major in disability studies. news.utoledo.edu/index.php/04...

Now is the time to get your documents in order if you haven't already. Passport, birth certificate, etc.

Show up at the CO capital tomorrow to support immigrant families!

Don't have anything quippy to say today. Short-term responses unlikely to help rn anyway. If you don't know where to start, check out local orgs that have been fighting this for a long time and your union or pick up a history book to learn how fascism has been fought in the past

If you feel helpless right now as students are deported, organize a Know Your Rights trainings at your school. You don't need to lead them yourself, just reach out to your local @aclu.org or immigrant rights organization and they will lead one for you.

Happy Tax Procrastinators Day to all who celebrate. Remember your tax dollars are currently being used to fund ICE and a genocide. We are all complicit and it's our responsibility to fight back.
