People on here, regardless if they're left or liberals love to assign many voters deeper motives than they have. A significant amount of people voted Trump because he's the man from the TV that said he'd make things cheap again.

there’s a certain strain of democrat who acts like voters’ desire to be inspired by a candidate is a childish affectation rather than just “how democracy has always worked.” it would be nice if voters were dispassionate and sober and saw elections as job interviews; it has also never been true.

probably not a popular opinion, but tbqh I think that one of the most damaging assumptions in our modern day discourse wrt rightwing terrorism is that we somehow fucked up the response to Ruby Ridge by going too hard when very clearly our response should've been much more severe & much quicker.
