To my friends here in Aotearoa please note that submissions on this important legislation close at the end of the month. I for one am keen to maintain strict gun laws that put safety at the centre.

So how did Jago get away with it for so long? Absolutely nothing to do with his brother being 'a senior detective'. No way that could be the case. Great work from Edward Gay on exposing this and other stuff one of the victim's family want aired.

If some combination of the reputational damage of the school lunches fiasco, the treaty principles bill and the paedo president can’t turn 8.5% into 4.9% we aren’t trying hard enough.

For those interested in Bryce Edward's summation of the impacts of the Regulatory Standards Bill and who can't get past The Post paywall, Bryce probably covers similar material on the Integrity Institute blog. #NZpol Thanks @grantbrookesnz.bsky.social democracyproject.substack.com/p/ditching-r...

ACT leaders ... covering up shit since forever.. #nzpol

Seymour’s school lunch provider had three months to get ready for the start of the school year, and they still can’t guarantee schools that lunches will be delivered. Someone needs to ask Luxon whether this is acceptable and if he’ll be holding Seymour to account given this situation is his creation

The ACT MP David Garrett who stole the identity of a dead baby to obtain a false passport finally sighing in relief today.

Come on Stuff are we simping for ACT so hard we're obfuscating their association with this creep? Recent Golriz article for comparison. Shameless partisanship

It's really important this story is followed up. If the vaping industry is bribing our government as these staff said, we need to know who, and how. It's not just about the tobacco and vape industry, it's about preventing corruption. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...

The Government has forced more legislation all the way through Parliament under urgency in its first 400 days than any since at least 1987, a Newsroom analysis has found. newsroom.co.nz/2025/01/28/g...

Setting up a library card last year after a hiatus was the single best customer service experience I've had in my life. Tried to apply late evening but didn't work. Woke up to an email noting it was because I needed my old details, providing them, and also having completed the process for me. A+

The Post printed an article today asserting that Wellington’s car parking is “overstretched”. I asked what their basis was for asserting this, given that WCC parking occupancy at peak times is only 52% and there are around 30,000 car parks overall in the central city. They removed the assertion.

Thank you! It’s been great to have our region report on good water news 💧 wellington.govt.nz/news-and-eve...

David Seymour is suggesting that people could get better private healthcare for $6000 per person per annum. It only takes cursory familiarity with healthcare costs to understand what a farce that statement is. 🧵

I am reading nearly every day about tacks being laid out on our cycle ways this summer. Someone could be seriously hurt by this petty destructiveness. We should all appreciate people who choose active or public transport - for emissions & air quality and the ease of us all getting around.

Heads up whānau. If you didn’t get a chance to submit on the Boot Camps bill or the Social Welfare bill, submissions have been extended until Jan 24 which means you have 3 days to get submitting. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/...

Simeon Brown’s rise proves National’s outdated priorities—opposing Māori wards, bilingual signs, and abortion rights. Now, with zero health expertise, he’s in charge of our health system. What could go wrong? #MāoriRights #HealthEquity #nzpol #AotearoaFuture

Hoo boy. This is unhinged enough that it's maybe worth a mediawatch query eh @haydendonnell.bsky.social ?

"Auckland is not just the place where these things happen to have occurred: this is _a story about Auckland_." We interrupt our summer break to bring you this important piece by Emmy Rakete on Neil Gaiman and the political economy of rape.

Apparently using your own bag rather than the baskets while you're in the supermarket is shoplifting I surrender for my many many egregious criminal escapades and expect a full investigation forthwith 😱
